WAC POTY
I didn't plan to start this conversation so early, but ESPN started it. What do you guys think?

RE: WAC POTY
Sounds about right. They’d have to be the 2 top contenders at this point. There are others, one at GCU and one at Seattle, but I’ll trust the wisdom of espn on this one03-wink

RE: WAC POTY
In my mind, the top five WAC POTY contenders are New Mexico State's Teddy Allen, Utah Valley's Fardaws Aimaq, Sam Houston's Savion Flagg, Seattle's Darrion Trammell, and Grand Canyon's Jovan Blacksher Jr..

RE: WAC POTY
With NMSU taking the lead with two quality road wins, I think unless NMSU stumbles in its last three games, Teddy Allen will be selected WAC Player of the Year.

And the WAC first team should consist of Teddy Allen, Fardaws Aimaq, Savion Flagg, Darrion Trammell, and Jovan Blacksher Jr.

WAC Coach of the Year should be Seattle's Chris Victor

And I project the final order of finish as follows...

New Mexico State....... 26-4... 16-2
Seattle U................... 23-8... 14-4
Grand Canyon............ 22-7... 13-5
Stephen F. Austin........ 21-9... 13-5
Sam Houston State.... 18-13... 13-5
Abilene Christian......... 20-9... 11-7
Utah Valley................ 19-11... 10-8
Tarleton State............ 14-17... 9-9
Dixie State................ 14-17... 7-11
California Baptist........ 16-15... 6-12
UT Rio Grande Valley.... 8-22... 3-15
Chicago State.............. 6-25... 2-16
Lamar......................... 2-27... 0-18

RE: WAC POTY
WAC POY has to be Teddy Buckets and it's not even close. Aimaq has stats but can't seriously be considered a "Top Competitor" to the best player on the best team in the conference while UVU wallows in the middle of the standings, can he?

RE: WAC POTY
I am convinced Flagg will be POTY or second pending Sam Houston's finish these last few games.

If Sam Houston drops the ball down the stretch, forget it.

If Sam finishes on a roll, Flagg may get POTY as I can see some votes splitting between Teddy & Aimaq especially if the Southwest Division schools coalesce behind him in their voting (and then we can all talk about the 'divide' between the two divisions!)

Teddy could go 0-357 in his last three games and he would still win POTY. He locked it up.

Well yes but no. We need to do better than UVU to get Teddy POTY award. We beat UVU and then he is a shoe in. Flagg is a damn good player but he hasn't gotten the same amount of WAC POTW as Aimaq and Allen so I don't think he is in the running. Big Maple vs Teddy Buckets will be interesting indeed.

RE: WAC POTY
Only way Savion Flagg becomes the WAC POTY, is if Sam Houston beats GCU, SFA, and Tarleton with Flagg racking up big numbers and NMSU slips up in its final three games and losses the WAC regular season championship to Sam Houston.

RE: WAC POTY
All those mentioned are POTY types -- very talented, but I am finally tilting toward Savion Flagg as my choice. Right place, right time, and clutch performances seemed to be his norm.
