Addition by subtraction for all the Memphis posters IMO. Kid has been a cancer since his freshman year of high school up my way (There is a ton of connective tissue with basketball in the AA/Ypsilanti area and the Toledo area where I live). There is a reason why Michigan and Michigan State both dumped the kid...he literally had his dad start his own high school because he felt like he wasn't getting enough action while scoring 35+/game his freshman year at Ypsi Lincoln, and the family is just cuckoo for cocoa puffs.

Emoni has been awful on the court that is true. But he has by all accounts been a model teammate and worked his ass off in practice and always shown effort on the court. I cannot speak to what he was before he came to Memphis but at Memphis he's been singled out by Penny throughout the season for his attitude and effort. Emoni even suggested to Penny that he come off the bench for the benefit of the team earlier in the season.

I won't comment on his work ethic or being a cancer because who knows.

But Memphis is better when he is not playing when he is missing shots...Because his defense is horrible.

Hope he's okay, not a great sign if he's going to a specialist.

He has played 26 minutes average the past 5 or 6 games, and shown no signs of a back issue.

Memphis sports media think it's a cover by his dad to ease out of the situation and stop the bleeding from his NBA stock dropping.

but there is tons of speculation of why he left.... reports that he wants to go pro nad done with the team....with the dad refuting it just a back injury and he is getting help

the issue is there are holes in the dads story and conspiracies that make logical sense

1) you dont have to take a leave from the team when being treated for injury

2) conspiracy- being seen as a "quitter" is really bad for draft stock (look at jalen johnson from last year).. and that the dad is using the back situation as a way to step away without that reputation stick to bates

I don't think much of his game, but he's a freshman playing for a bad coaching staff. He'll get better. I don't think any subjective things will hurt his draft stock. A negative BPM in college will.

Penny is losing the team. It's just a matter of time now. Sux because I wanted him to be successfu because it would be good for the AAC. They remind me of UConn who always got the good hand in early season rankings and are sports favorites but would just fall flat on their faces.
