How to make Congress work better?
https://www.realclearpolitics.com/articl...47093.html

These congressmen actually think there is a way short of replacing 435 representatives.

term limits or indirect term limits by passing the stock trading ban bill…

I’ll take either or both and call it a MAGA moment!

Their recommendations seem rather weak. But I do agree that the problem is cultural. Getting new butts in the seats isn't going to change things. Unless you meant literally replacing all 435 at once. I'd agree to that. :)

Soft/Hard term limits could also help things along.

That a great subplot to Tom Clancy's Executive Orders. After a pilot crashes his 747 into a joint session of congress to swear in Jack Ryan as VP, 95% of both houses were lost. The senate was reformed in the old image as the governors got to pick the replacements, but the house actually had a chance for real washington new comers to bring a fresh perspective to politics.

Still pissed that designated survivor ripped that plot off and turned it into woke garbage.

How to make Congress work better? How about we make them work. They get more time off than the average American, make more than the average American, and screw the Average American.

I want Congress to work worse, or virtually not at all.

RE: How to make Congress work better?
Each bill before Congress should be for one specific purpose.

If the bill is to raise or lower a tax rate then it should include no other items. No bridges in Maine of highway paving in Alabama. Now I am being kind here as we all know that the extra 1990 pages of a bill are the ones where they enrich themselves and their friends and hurt the rest of us.

Of course there is as much chance of this happening as there is of them voting to term limit themselves.

The fact of the matter is that we are all screwed. And not enjoying it either.

Congress was designed for gridlock. It wasn’t designed for lobbyists controlling legislation however

Government officials should be banned from solo stock trading.

Yes, but "serving in government" was never intended to be a damned career let alone one with a separate retirement benefit not afforded the public. They were supposed to lead for a few years and return to their businesses and professions.

Ding ding ding.

If anyone has ever watched the movie Lincoln, Tommy Lee Jones' character says this. Says to serve was supposed to be an honor.
