Michigan court won’t order Ivermectin treatment for hospitalized man with COVID-19 on
Quote:The man’s daughter and patient advocate was searching for additional possible treatments for her father when she learned of Ivermectin, records show.
She contacted a doctor outside of the hospital who prescribed the drug to her father, but the hospital declined to administer it as it is contrary to hospital policy and against the medical judgment of the man’s treating physicians, court records show.
Ivermectin is an anti-parasite medication commonly used to treat parasitic diseases in humans and animals and some skin conditions such as rosacea.
Although some physicians across the country have prescribed Ivermectin to treat COVID-19, the Food and Drug Administration has not approved Ivermectin for use in treating COVID-19. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends against its use to treat COVID-19 and the hospital’s internal policy does not permit the use of Ivermectin to treat COVID-19, court records show.
Quote:The hospital submitted a letter to the court from its chief medical officer stating the man was suffering from severe lung injury, moderate kidney injury and bacterial pneumonia, or after-effects of the illness, court records show.
