I believe the picture that we are seeing is just a placeholder. It was a mock-up and donors will have significant input as to the final design.
Looking at it, I think the double open ended design wouldn’t get to 45-50k seats. I just don’t think there is enough space.
I know there is a push for overhangs also, so we’ll see if that happens.
I would much rather see 40k with overhangs.
Honestly that would probably work better for partnering with a MLS team and other opportunities.
Nippert Stadium I believe is under 40k.
For $250 million, I think overhangs and the LED lights should be a part of it. I believe they said it will seat backs from the 30-30 yard lines. Then bench with backs and the end zones just benches.
Id rather have those features and it be 40k seats than to go larger and it be more basic.
MLS prefers in city teams, so I don’t see that type of partnership. I’m fine with the seating you mention. Bigger money comes from suites. So a 40k with overhangs for rain and sun are preferable in my book than a 50k without that.
Honestly, just build as many suites as possible. For all the quirks and faults you could point out in the Bounce House, the biggest downfall is the tiny tower and the lack of suites that have basically been sold out and unattainable since the stadium opened. Which is why we are constantly doing stadium renovations to add premium seats. Big donors and companies want the suites and they are the ones that fund the program the most. It would be smart to build a decent amount into the original design or at least make them easy to add. We'd probably have to tear down and rebuilt the whole tower to add more suites up there at this point.

Agree. Suites is where your money is at. I much rather see a smaller 40k stadium with more suites and overhang for sun/heat and rain in Florida. No one wants to seat at noon and bake in sun in Florida

Well our stadium can have the tower expanded from Endzone to Endzone if I recall the master plan details from way back.
Overhangs are necessity for any stadium in FL in my opinion.
I really do hope USF builds a stadium, I just think 250M is a shyt load of money.

That's old now, the proposed student sections prevents Roth Tower from going all the way to the endzone.
Right now we have Roth Tower and will soon have the Launch Pad suites.

It’s about the same money Colorado State spent on theirs. If you start adding the Football Facility attached to stadium, suites on top of stadium plus overhangs the cost starts to add up.
But if we can raise that money with interest rates being down, then it’s a good move long term.

Knowing USFs administration and propensity toward safety, it makes me think that if we are going to invest $250+ million then we aren’t expecting our income to remain $7 million.
Completely agree on the suites. I hope they go nearly end to end. Make a bunch small. Like 8-10 people.
We were paying $12,000 for the 12 seater in Ray Jay but that price went way up after Brady. USF would have to be a bit less but I’d do a suite if it’s close to that.

More suites and less cheap seats is the way to go. Regarding your take on the 250 million, I state in previous posts that I didn’t see USF with an OCS in near future unless one of two things happened.
1. A big money booster give a ton of bucks
2. A bigger conference said we needed one to move up.
Time will tell.
