randomly decided to rewatch the memphis/goergia game... and i just notcied the biggest difference in this years team and last years team at seasons end

their defense isnt the same, sampson noted something about Houston after the wisconsin loss and that resonated with me as i rewatched the memphis game.. he said houston was "in front" of wisconsin the 1st half, but let them run their stuff, that what makes a defense good is uncomfortablility, don't let them run what they want to, make them feel pressured into making bad decision, make them run whatever they think is desperately available not what they want to planned before the game

that was Memphis last year.. even getting the ball over half court with memphis last year was a monster , memphis harrassed you with length.. that is no the case this year (so far) last year the defense was the harrasment and effort, that was boosted by lenght... this year they are just defense is just length.. 6'3 guards shooting over 6'7 is hard, and every shot at the rim can be swatted by duren/williams/minott, that's the defense.. memphis will let you run whatever you want, let you pass it to whoever, you just have to deal with the size..and as seen with georgia there are many ways to get around height/shot blockers (like screens, or using the rim as protections etcs.) that is a drastic difference from last year

honestly, the offense is pretty much the same level (wasnt that great last year either)..

Looking at all those games we basically need to sweep. With the toughest opponent being Ole Miss, Memphis needs to win that one to rebound from two bad losses. Wichita State should be able to handle Kansas State. All others would be bad losses.

P, there you go making a judgment based on one game. Until the Georgia game, we played great D again. For whatever reason, our guys decided not to play D that game.

There is a lot of drama and behind the scenes turmoil going on. Nobody was trying on D. That's what Penny's outburst was about after the game.

IMO, what Penny isn't doing is taking responsibility for this mess. I'm not sure we win another game in the next 2 weeks. We are dysfunctional as a team right now.

P.S. The offense should look the same in the Georgia game as last year. It's what we used to go on a roll the last half of the season. Penny installed it right before this game, b/c what we were doing before was such a disaster.

I don't care what pesik says. Illinois is going to be a protected seed and probably the second best team in the big 10. That win is going to be really good at the end of the year.

You will have to sweep Houston if you don’t win another game in the next two weeks. That would be awful.

Would have been nice. The team has plenty of flaws but plays really hard. Still don't really know what they are but had a good couple days in kc.
