WMU just received a 500 million dollar gift tied to diversity and inclusion initiatives, you can bet all major hires in the near future will be experts in that area. Paula Jackson fits and I would expect her to be next AD.

Even though I'm not jumping out of my seat about the other two finalists, they both are more qualified than Jackson.

I really do not believe it will be Jackson. If I was a betting man - I'd say it's Perrier's job to turn down but who knows with this President?

It didn’t even warrant a response from me. If you know anything about search firms, you know it’s a shady business.

The woman wouldn't be my choice either. I have no idea what any of her experience has to do w/ being the HEAD of the athletic department.

I can easily see her being the school's choice over the SDSU guy & the PAC 12 guys, not b/c of all the diversity stuff her background's in (tho that's no doubt a bonus & catapulted her into a finalist), but because she'd probably be the cheaper option.

I might make a career recommendation to her that she should try to re-orient her career ladder to university president.

OKGC is correct. I just started by focusing on D1 schools with hockey, as I'm partial, but also because the sport it self is a little unique and I don't want to see WMU bring in a new AD with zero experiences with a hockey program. So I just started with our NCHC teams and looking at the bios listed for those Associate AD's who might consider making the next career jump to being a AD at a D1 school. I also was looking for Associate AD's with some experiences in the fundraising and facility upgrades.

I'm also terrified about what could happen (hockey) with the wrong hire.

The “wrong” hire is a Huge concern.

Anyone know if the committee or just the Prez actually makes the hire choice?

Yeah, I would prefer someone with experience trying to get up to the Division IA level. I just noted that Toledo is looking for a new AD as well.
