The privates will want to be together as much as possible now. Especially with an addition of another private.
Yeah let's let Tulane decide over Memphis since Tulane has had such a positive impact on the success of AAC sports.
It get's worse by the minute.
Let's make sure the Rice and Tulane glee clubs are happy. Just makes sense.
Memphis and SMU have a rivalry. I think it would be a good idea for those teams to be together.
Besides, we're already in the West. We should have to make room for Rice? Tulane? Somebody shoot me.
Let’s decide who wins in basketball for East and west… oh that happened.. nice… Tulane west
Actually I think the league won’t go into divisions for basketball. You will probably see playing everyone once and five schools you would play twice.
I could see the top schools playing twice so for example.
Memphis would play home/ away vs Wichita State,SMU, UAB,Temple, Tulsa or North Texas.
This is similar to what we do now and the ACC does.
If they could do that - - but only play the nearby schools twice - - that would address the travel time/costs issue.
This year, Temple plays Wichita State only once, and that saves travel time/costs. However, they also play Memphis only once, and that doesn't save time/costs because Memphis is one of the closest schools.
.
The divisions work for football and the non revenue sports. For basketball it will be more important for the top teams to play each other twice and only play bottom dwellers once. Right now that’s more difficult because with 11 schools you can’t avoid as many.

tulane is not only closer but a better academic/recruiting fit with the western teams
I am so tired of that.
The worst period in our history was when we were in a Texas division.
We've played Memphis basically every year since he mid-70s, except for our time in C-USA W. Either way, that's over.

...if they keep divisions, hopefully there will be some 'crossover' games.
Honestly, I think UAB/Tulane/Memphis should play each other every year, regardless of the divisions, due to relative distances to each other as well as the rivalry thing (you two have had one for quite awhile, but UAB/UM is a good one, and we have played Tulane enough to easily call it a rivalry as well...)
