If Troy were to add men's soccer I wonder what other sports for Troy's ladies to play so that Title IX requirements stay balanced.
I really feel like soccer is going to be huge in 20+ years, it's already growing every year. When I was growing up, only thing I knew about soccer was the movie "The Big Green." Now my kids are in soccer, and the local youth rec leagues have 20+ fields filled up playing soccer throughout the week.
The Big Green was one of my favorite movies growing up.
I was raised in a house, were my Dad played in a men's league. And I started playing from the age of 3. I remember him waking me up at 3am, to watch USMNT play in the World Cup. The MLS still has some ways to go, but it is actually a respectable league now. And the sport is growing tremendously, it is worth getting into. Soccer is really thrilling, just wish the USA would throw away the pay to play model in this country.

Oh yeah I grew up not knowing a whole lot about it but I fell in love with the sport when I began watching. I follow MLS and EPL. Atlanta United & Tottenham Hotspur.

Everyone adds men's soccer (9.9 schollies, 29 avg roster size) and women's lacrosse (12 schollies, 32 avg roster size). Title IX is good and plenty of close opponents to fill the schedule.

Atlanta United draws huge crowds. They were top 10 in the world in attendance back in 2019. I'd argue you see more United flags, bumper stickers, attire, etc than the Falcons or Hawks around the city

Definitely more than the Hawks for sure. I wouldn't be surprised if it's more than the Falcons also.

Soccer is growing rapidly in the South so it could be a good investment.

This must be the fabled east coast league that herdfan129 has been preaching about all along! Little did we know that it would be in Men's Soccer only. What a smart guy!

I'd be willing to bet that on any match day, 70% of the people in the supporters section don't follow any other Atlanta sport

I honestly had no clue that MLS teams in the US were drawing those types of crowds. That's impressive.

It is pretty much limited to Atlanta, Seattle, Portland, Kansas City, and maybe Toronto, Cincy, and Minnesota with high level support.

If UK goes so does USCe as they’re both the only SEC members to play soccer. Seems like just migrate the whole thing to the SB. Bring back the GA schools. He’ll offer FIU a spot and that’s a nice 10 all in the SE

Boone NPSL team drew over 1k per match after App killed its team.
Slap an A on that uni and 1k for SBC MSoc is second to Marshall attendance

When Arthur Blank has Mercedes Benz Stadium built he had it also built for MLS. In their first game their Atlanta United has 70k+ fans in attendance. I see them have in the 40k a lot which is more than some teams in Europe even gets.

For someone who whined about a place for their soccer program, I'm surprised you don't know anything about MLS.
Also, if remaining CUSA soccer teams were added to the SBC teams it would be a great league.
GSU just opened a new soccer complex
And GS will use the new USL Tormenta complex opening in 2022.
Should make for some great atmosphere.

RE: White Smoke!!!!!!!!!!
I wish schools would try and make their soccer games more accessible online. Hard to travel for weeknight games, so try and watch on TV. Hard to find (thankfully ESPN+ covers a lot). Still, unless you're digging for it, no one covers soccer. Really want to see it take off.
Support local soccer!
