The Texas schools left because they were tired of getting teabagged by the Louisiana schools on a regular basis. Sam was the only school that was pulling their weight football wise and SFA wanted a better basketball conference ( which like whatever I guess this kinda is). ACU was already in the West anyways and Lamar is making one if the most idiotic decisions I have ever seen a school make despite being absolute trash in every sport that matters for like 15 years. They're also deciding to make the insane move of travelling West which isn't even a good brand play for the Pac 12.

UCA took the opportunity to go to the ASun which is a great move by them imo good for them.

I wouldn't be shocked if the LA schools follow if possible for football it would probably be a solid league

Very interesting take. Lamar strikes me as a program that really should be with the likes of Astate Ulm Louisiana and other old school slc programs at the fbs level

They were like UTA. Couldn't draw flies and couldn't win at football. Even worse than UTA. They could play BB though.

But they have football and actually have a nice little stadium after renovations

But they dropped football for a time and they left Sun Belt because they said their fans didn’t care about playing all the non-Texas schools.

It’s okay for a Southland school, but pretty damn terrible for a conference that is supposedly aiming to be FBS. They managed to wedge it between a major highway and an oil refinery so I honestly don’t know if they can even expand it.

If you listened closely last Saturday morning, and threw in a few tidbits of your own, you might discover that of the six remaining football playing schools in the SLC as many as five have wondering eyes. A few have done some window shopping and others have even made official pitches to other leagues. It’s the sign of the times.[/i]

What was hard to believe, and still remains the case five days later, is that nobody from the Southland’s home office has been in touch with any of the schools about their intentions. McNeese officials confirmed they have heard nothing from SLC Commissioner Tom Burnett about ways of making the Cowboys happy in the SLC.

The problem with the Louisiana schools their budgets are tiny and enrollment are just as small (outside of SELA). WAC of ASUN will not touch them

Have you seen the current make of of the WAC? I find it hard to believe that Southland schools, even Louisiana Southland schools, couldn’t compete with that group . . .

Most Texas schools are around 20 mill where as most Louisiana schools are closer to 10 mill
