A few F Marshall’s thrown out before we made it into the stadium by some drunk pecker necks, who shut up quick when I shot the **** back at em and their friends laughed at them. It was nothing abnormal.

In the stadium everyone was nice around us, section 110 row N appreciate everyone around us and the hospitality. We even talked a little **** back and forth but it was all in good fun.

What was messed up was the 100’s of blackout drunk students berating elderly Herd fans leaving the game, one punk even got in the face of a dad carrying his toddler, to which App fans reacted quickly and shut the kid up. Still, nothing too crazy overall.

Didn’t like leaving with an L, and imagine next years games going to be a bloodbath now that the rivalry has been rekindled. If anything the Chet’s and Thadd’s caught on camera telling herd players to suck their inchworms just added some motivation for next years game. Expect an ass thrashing of epic proportions in Huntington next season 03-wink

IslandHerd1, I'm pretty sure I was the Herd fan that was sitting directly in front of you. (the guy with the Marshall shirt and the Atlanta Braves hat) I agree with your assessment, I would say 99% of the App fans I encountered were fantastic! I did get hit with a few "F-Bombs" and "You Suck" walking back to the car, but never felt threatened. My brother in-law who's a new found App State fan as his daughter (my niece) attends App State, was more upset about it then I was. I had to chuckle, as he's a lifelong Tennessee/SEC fan and can talk smack with the best of them.

The one common comment that I heard over and over whether in the beer line, restroom, or just walk around the stadium, was what a great atmosphere this game created, how much App State fans missed playing Marshall each year, and how this needs to be an annual game moving forward.

If this is indeed you, I hope you and your family made it back to Hilton Head safely!

I too hope this becomes an annual affair and want to get to Huntington for a game there.

Camerun Peoples is a junior and Nate Noel is a sophomore so they will be back. My understanding of the extra covid year rule is Chase Brice will get another go if he wants it but with Sutton, Hennigan, and Virgil graduating he might not have a lot to throw to. Truthfully he needs another season to develop but his best hope for the NFL is to ball out the rest of the season, raise his stock value and hope for the best.

Whoever we have in the starting lineup next year will have to grow up fast. Our first 3 games are UNC, @ TA&M, @ Marshall.

App has played a good handful of underclassman and freshman already this year. I'm less worried for next year if the QB situation stay stable. The skill positions have plenty of underclassman that we already rely on. The OL and DL are going to be of more concern.

Keith Gill was at this game.

Not sure if it means anything with realignment stuff going on.

Yes indeed that was us! Small world, we took the long way back and went to Grandfather Mountain and Wisemans View (great view and you can hear Linville Falls and the River below echoing through the valley)

Hope you all enjoyed the rest of your stay. I use the same handle on Herd Nation if you’re on that board as well.

I'm on Herd Nation as well and use the same name as here. We actually had an amusing time trying to find something to eat after the game. The only places that seemed to be open were Cook-Out and Taco Bell, and the lines were way too long. So we called an audible and went food shopping at a Circle K. We ran into some great App State and Marshall fans. The need for food brought us all together, including a couple of stoned co-eds raving about how good the donuts were. Man I miss living in a college town!

that doesn’t surprise me that so many restaurants were closed. I said early in this thread “if you have a hotel room having food there might not be a bad idea because getting into a restaurant post game is tough”. Small towns still shut down early.

Glad all of you had a good time and apologies for the few drunk idiots out there. Every school has them. I hope to make the trip to Huntington next year.

Man, business is business. I can’t see where they wouldn’t be open post game, knowing the $$$ they could make. Even if it’s just an abbreviated menu of burgers pizza etc. Seems nuts to me.

A lot of bars are open and serving food after that time, not totally sure they looked that hard.

That’s what I was thinking. Maybe they didn’t/couldn’t go into a bar? But still, i don’t see how at least one restaurant doesn’t extend some hours and cash in on a hungry crowd.

Boise St/Utah State only drew 804k on CBS..... I say that just to point out the Marshall/App St game has 1.25 Million last year.

The Navy / Air Force game on CBS two weeks ago only got 1.076 million viewers.
