I'm sure all kinds of ideas are thrown around behind closed doors and something similar to what the OP described could be among them. The problem is that it's herding cats. App and Marshall's ideal 16-team AAC will look different from Temple's, who will look different than Navy's, who will look different than Tulsa's.

I would assume App learned who was getting the invites to the AAC, and they decided they wanted in with that group. So now they are trying to sell to the AAC a 16 team conference to make room for themselves. If the AAC went after marketz, and is going after UNCC and GaSt, App doesn’t want to be left behind by UNCC. So they are pleading their case.

Didn't post sources when I said the Belt wanted to go to 12 and people said no way. Even the famous ULL poster birdofparadise with his inside knowledge said the Belt wasn't going to 12. Guess what! The Belt just put out a statement saying they are looking to expand. Yall do this every time. Yall laugh and say I'm making crap up. Go find a post where I was wrong and get back to me.

Aresco just said in an ESPN article they would expand by 2 or 4 at the most. I call BS on the AAC going to 16. Aresco also said the AAC would move quickly and is open to the 3 departing members negotiating earlier exits than 2024

Thank you. I'd hate for this to happen. I know stAte would be left behind if this happened. For all our sake is the AAC doesn't take App and only goes to 12 teams max.

I think App is very happy with the SBC, but like anyone else we don't want to get left behind if the AAC starts taking other good programs. I'm sure stAte and most everyone else will make their case as well. I don't think we want out just to leave, but we would like to be in the AAC if our peers are going as well.

The 16 team conference for the AAC makes sense as it would allow them to add football and basketball schools along with a mixture of market sizes. There aren't that many schools left that have good football, hoops, and have a big market. Those schools are pretty much all in the P5 now.

BTW, I know you have good sources and folks need to listen when you post.

App, you better not screw up the possibility of South being in the same conference with USM!!! You will not be forgiven!!!!
