Pretty hard to dispute this point. For someone who pretended to have the foresight and fortitude to stand up to the establishment, President Trump sure played the patsy for Team Fauci when it mattered most. And all he got for it was the opportunity to grandstand daily at the press conferences.

But the other side to that, bigjohn, is that the only argument you’ve got - - and in fact will ever have - - is “But Trump”. That is beyond pathetic.

President Trump is undeniably an egotistical moron. But more importantly he is (hopefully) no more than a has been for all but a minority of his die-hard supporters. The entire progressive movement, on the other hand, from top to bottom, is a malignant cancer on our nation.

Lockdowns was and is (currently in Australia) one of the worst, inhuman and destructive actions taken across the world and no people didn’t manage to survive. British health officials announced yesterday that upwards of a million more people committed suicides during the lockdowns. It traumatized kids and kept people in abusive homes longer than they were use to. In hindsight the stupidity of governments to have closed some parks and recreational areas when exercise and fresh air was one the best things people should have been doing for their health instead of basically shutting them in was plain dumb.

Fauci knew this and recommended it for political purposes

Trump should never have let him get into the forefront. Fauci is a bureaucrat's career bureaucrat, and one thing those folks know how to do is to grab and hold the limelight when they get a shot.

What he should have done instead of turning it over to Fauci is to create a Tiger Team of representatives from not only the public health bureaucracy, but also practitioners (I would have included Dr. Chu) and industry and economic leaers to come up with a balanced plan that limited the virus while keeping the economy open.

Why is it no matter what the topic is all any of you can talk about is still Trump?

The problem is that last March, we had no idea who the highest risk categories were.

The only data we had was Chinese lies.

Within a month, our judgements of "who is highest risk" drastically changed as it started to be possible to gather data outside China. But by that time, we had already been in lockdown for a month.
