Play stupid games win stupid prizes....
Conservative talk radio show host Phil Valentine has been hospitalized with COVID and is "fighting for his life," according to his family. After expressing concerns about COVID vaccines, he now plans to "vigorously advocate" for them, they said.

On Thursday, Phil Valentine's brother Mark Valentine released a statement on behalf of the family reading: "Phil contracted the Covid virus a little over a week ago & has since been hospitalized & is in very serious condition, suffering from Covid Pneumonia and the attendant side effects."

According to the statement, the Nashville, Tennessee, SuperTalk 99.7 WTN host was breathing with assistance in a critical care unit, but was not on a ventilator.

Sorry to hear of anyone getting seriously ill from this. I have a feeling this variant is going to explode and cause another round of shut downs and other measures. I hope Im wrong. My wife is in public health and they are seeing the numbers jump dramatically over the last 2 weeks.

We had a spike last July too. This might be that seasonal spike. Let's hope so.

Speaking from experience, a vaccine doesn’t guarantee you won’t get Covid. It’s foolish to believe otherwise. Whether or not the vaccine keeps you from getting a worse case is debatable.

It seems we have a large enough sample of vaccinated people at this point and easily recognize that only the unvaxxed are going to the hospitals and only the unvaxxed are still dying from complications related to covid.

RE: Play stupid games win stupid prizes....
Quote:Dr. Brytney Cobia said Monday that all but one of her COVID patients in Alabama did not receive the vaccine. The vaccinated patient, she said, just needed a little oxygen and is expected to fully recover. Some of the others are dying.

“I’m admitting young healthy people to the hospital with very serious COVID infections,” wrote Cobia, a hospitalist at Grandview Medical Center in Birmingham, in an emotional Facebook post Sunday. “One of the last things they do before they’re intubated is beg me for the vaccine. I hold their hand and tell them that I’m sorry, but it’s too late.”

Quote:“You kind of go into it thinking, ‘Okay, I’m not going to feel bad for this person, because they make their own choice,’” Cobia said. “But then you actually see them, you see them face to face, and it really changes your whole perspective, because they’re still just a person that thinks that they made the best decision that they could with the information that they have, and all the misinformation that’s out there.

“And now all you really see is their fear and their regret. And even though I may walk into the room thinking, ‘Okay, this is your fault, you did this to yourself,’ when I leave the room, I just see a person that’s really suffering, and that is so regretful for the choice that they made.”

https://www.al.com/news/2021/07/im-sorry...ients.html

With the vaccine now widely available for anyone who wants it, my first instinct was not to care that these people are getting severely sick due to Covid. Their choice, right? Reap what you sow.

But then I also can't help but feeling bad. While this isn't affecting my family, it's still happening to thousands of families across the country. It's heartbreaking to see someone you love and care for suffer and I get no satisfaction whatsoever hearing about people who refused to take the vaccine end up in the hospital.

You could also literally do the same with, say, eating a bowl of Luck Charms.

Hey, let's do a longitudinal study of folks who eat a big bowl of Lucky Charms and see how many DIE within a few months. I bet we could get a death rate of 0.0018% if we followed 10,000,000 people who ate Lucky Charms.

A friend of mine was hospitalized last summer with COVID and double pneumonia. He was approved for Remdesivir and that's what saved him. Approval was made at the state level by physicians at Vanderbilt.

There are other drugs such as Ivermectin and Hydroxychloroquine.

I hope he asks his doctors to treat using one of these.

Isolated cases don't change the bottom line. Most people will be just fine. Just more fear mongering.

Stupid post. Valentine is over 60 years old. If he wanted the vax, he could take the vax. His choice.

What most of us intelligent people are saying is that anyone under the age of 50 without comorbidities should not get the vax, because the risk of getting covid and what it will do to you is less than the risk of the vax itself.

Also, the vax does not prevent you from getting covid.

Also, the vax does not prevent you from spreading covid.

The vax does one thing; it reduces (but doesnt prevent) the likelihood of a serious case of covid that requires hospitilations in older people and people with comobidities. Thats all it does.

No real proof of that, just a political narrative.
