The U... American Top Team plans $540,000 NIL commitment to Miami players
Everyone on the Miami Football team from this deal can earn $6000...From the Article:

American Top Team, one of the nation's top training academies for MMA fighters which has 44 licensed gyms throughout South Florida and the world, has finalized plans to offer Name, Image, Likeness contracts to every University of Miami scholarship football player.

Each of the 90 existing Miami scholarship players will be offered a $500 a month contract (up to $6000 for a year) to endorse American Top Team through their social media accounts, personal appearances and other marketing vehicles. If all 90 players opt to accept a deal, the total American Top Team investment in year one could reach $540,000.

The deal is being administered by a new marketing company - "Bring Back The U" - which was created by South Florida businessman Dan Lambert, who founded American Top Team and is a longtime Golden Cane and member at CaneSport.com.

Again yet another school trying to get control of the payouts.

The schools are trying to make sure they get a piece of the action. The mind of Al Capone is in all of them.

I wonder how many of these NIL deals will end up being with shady Nevin Shapiro types that are more criminal than legitimate businessmen

Why would any Miami football player opt to refuse to accept $6K a year free money?

My question is was American Top Team contributing to the school before this? And if so, will these payments be in addition to, or instead of, those contributions?

And I highly suspect other “businesses” will get involved as well...more than “One Business” in South Florida. For what it worth..I’m not mad at all about the new system.

I wonder how the NCAA will handle non-scholarship players that receive NIL. Would teams use this as a way to circumvent scholarship limits?

If so, say goodbye to G5 competitveness.

COVID gave people an extra year without it counting against the scholarship limit in certain instances right? That could account for it.

Will be waiting to see if chain massage parlors, strip clubs, escort services, alcoholic beverage companies, pharmaceutical and cosmetic corporations, firearms manufacturers, condom makers, and meat processors, decide to get-in on the action.

Actually, this sounds more like what I feared with NIL. A booster is arranging a way to pay players.

Just a guess...the NCAA would have to handle the Non Scholarship players the same as those on full rides if they are members of that university sports team.

Due to his giving level to the program, Lambert is prohibited from participating as an individual regarding NIL payments, however, his corporation can. This will occur hundred of times over across the nation.

RE: The U... American Top Team plans $540,000 NIL commitment to Miami players
ESPN with more on this:

Lambert has also started a corporation, called Bring Back The U, that will be solely focused on putting money in the pockets of Miami football players. He said the company will attempt to rally support from local businesses to hire the players as spokesmen. He says he also plans to host fundraising events and then donate the proceeds to any local business that agrees to use the donation to pay for Miami players as spokesmen.

Lambert said he has had multiple conversations with the school's compliance department to tell them about his plans. He also has hired attorney Darren Heitner to make sure what he was doing didn't violate new state laws.

"There are improper ways of fans supporting their players, and now there is a legal way to do it," Lambert said. "And if there is a legal way, and you can dot the I's and cross the T's, I'm going to do it."

Heitner helped craft Florida's new name, image and likeness law and has consulted with several athletes and businesses looking to use college athlete endorsers. He told ESPN that Lambert's fanhood and previous donations that he has made to the athletic department do not prevent him from creating a company that facilitates endorsement deals for Hurricanes players.

This is truly fascinating. Interesting times ahead for collegiate athletics in the NIL Era and I'm looking forward to it.
