Remaining 'P5' conference schools that have never won a NCAA NC
Miss State is now off the list with a Baseball NC

Mississippi won a Football NC in 1960, but by winning Woman's Golf NC this year they have won their 1st non-FB NC.

The remaining list of schools :

Kansas State - No NC in any sport.
Virginia Tech - No NC in any sport.
Pittsburgh - No non-FB NC, 5 NCAA recognized FB NC.

Every other P5 school has won at least 1 non-FB NC:

Rutgers is sort of a gray area here, having a single (shared) championship from 1949 in men's fencing, a title that is no longer specifically awarded.

Fencing has been a men's/women's combined championship since 1990.

I don't think the NCAA "recognizes" any football national titles at the FBS level. It does have a rule book that lists titles that have been granted by other organizations, but that's far from the same thing has having won an NCAA title like Mississippi State just did.

So IMO Pitt is fully in the same category with Kansas State and Virginia Tech.

I don't think Pitt should count. I mean they were AP and Coaches #1 in 1976, that is fairly recent and also from the most recognized awarding bodies at the time. If it was a disputed title from the 30s I'd be a lot more inclined to ignore it.

I totally agree that Pitt has won football national titles. But the question posed in the header is whether they have won an "NCAA" title, and the answer is they have not.

If it had been phrased "what schools have never won a team national title", then I agree Pitt would not be on that list.

The only gray there is that it is a shared title. But under the terms of never having won an NCAA national championship, they don't qualify if they have won one. There's nothing in the terms about "presently being awarded".
