As to the article that disputes that because it happened at multiple airports the author doesn’t seem to understand how air travel works. If ATL - MCO cancels, and MCO - LGA was the next leg for that aircraft then MCO - LGA cancels. If that plane was then going LGA to ATL to overnight in ATL you just had three flights cancled in three cities from one crew issues.

Trump must have a time machine and was able to have Delta boycotted at Christmas as well. They had the same issue then.

A pilot isn’t a pilot. He is a 737 pilot, or a A319/320 pilot. Or an MD88/90 pilot. Between retirements, people finding other jobs while furloughed in March last year, and pilots retraining on different equipment they have a shortage of pilots in some narrow body fleets.

Shortage on one particular day? Do all pilots retire on the same day?

This is where I would tell you that my uncle was a Pilot for Eastern and my Aunt was a Stewardess for Delta and their daughter is a Pilot for Jet Blue. I could tell you this... but I rather enjoy you pontificating about something for which you know nothing.

The first holiday and day with the most scheduled flights so far in 2021. With all of your aviation knowledge you should understand bidding pilot schedules, maximum flight hours per month, and and crew timeouts based on maximum flight hours per day.

It doesn’t take much to cause a cascade of canceled flights. Once delays mount us crews start timing out for the day, and then if you don’t have a crew sitting at the crash pad on ready reserve for that equipment you are canceling flights. Schedules are bid very tight right now, they don’t have a ton of pilots on ready reserve.

I was listening to PGA radio this morning to hear interviews of golfers and wanted to throw my beer out the window when some reporter kept asking Bryson about his thoughts on all the crap in Ga.

I wanna hear what kind of crazy sh1t he's doing with his golf swing or his equipment. I don't care about what he thinks about a bill. Granted, he did answer really well and said he hadn't read the bill and isn't educated enough on the topic to speak about it (which I do wish more people took this approach).

So what you are saying this is very common? I honestly dont have a clue because I dont fly. But you seem to think its common for a airline to have so many canceled flights. Can you back this up with links to canceled Delta flights? To a person that knows nothing about it...

it seems like a lot of flights canceled just for what seems like scheduling mishaps

They aren’t honest journalists/reporters. They are propaganda shills with an agenda. The old editors of Pravda and the Communist Party would be proud...........regular Americans (with any common sense) - not so much.

Good for Bryson for deflecting.

Mickleson did better. He started out on a complete tangent then finally just said he wasn’t going there. The beetch that kept asking the same question began to get more confrontational as the interviews went on because she wasn’t getting the answers she wanted. Don’t know why they kept letting ask her stupid political hack questions at a sporting press conference. Should have ignored her.

Things aren’t exactly operating as normal with Covid.

Delta melted down at thanksgiving and Christmas from the same reason they stated this time, staffing. That’s why I said Trump must have a time machine and told people to boycott delta over Christmas.
https://viewfromthewing.com/deltas-opera...christmas/

Pre covid generally a good Delta meltdown was caused by IT systems or an electrical fire in ATL (that was hell, we were on the plane for 6 hours at the gate in ATL).

Delta has a very diverse mainline fleet compared to say SWA which is a single type rating fleet of 737s. Staffing issues hit harder the more diverse the fleet, but Delta has historically been a wizard of cheap narrowbody acquisitions from other airlines. So they are burned by fleet diversity now, but it made them a ton of money in the past when they picked up airplanes like the 717 for pennies on the dollar.

Edit : From a scale perspective 100 cancellations isn’t that many historically. The fire that knocked out power to ATL caused over 1000 cancellations. A good summer thunderstorm knocks out 300 flights in DFW.

I read where Delta lost close to 35 billion last year. No amount of bullshite they spew makes me believe they are happy with the idea of anyone avoiding them. The filth will spew their normal babble but anyone with half a brain knows they hurt themselves with this stunt.

It would be easier to believe that Aliens were requiring vaccinations so they could colonize without being infected than it is to wrap your mind around how in bed with China the Corporatists are while selling out their hometowns, home states, families and everything else for a sack of Yuan and a case of red ass from the Chinese.

What does it profiteth a man when he gains the whole world and loses his soul?

They have trashed all of us for a buck. How can they still live among us. Steinbeck would call us mice!

These are all business decisions. Delta feels that they will make more in the long term by doing this. They are probably correct. Just bought more shares of Delta.

Of course you did, because clearly the best time to buy a stock is when its sitting near an all time high, they are having to cancel revenue because of a lack of customers, they need bailouts, they are losing money, and they just pissed off a chunk of the country.

Just wait til the CEO announces they are cutting that dividend.

You could make an argument that airline stocks are still a good buy despite most of them being at 52 week highs.

Sipping Diet Pepsi while reading this...

It took two weeks. Now Diet Coke tastes weird.

I think I'll switch to iced tea now at restaurants serving Coke products.

This just in for dummies who have NEVER ran a business or a corporation. Playing politics effects your bottom line PERIOD. It does not help you short or long term. Social Media keeps regurgitating what was done and said for years. Its incompetence and gross ignorance to allow politics to seep into your business and organization. The only thing it accomplishes is to divide co workers and chase off future business. Especially when there are NO FACTS to back up your ideology. If these companies had a brain they would fire anyone in an administrative position who does this. It would be part of any contract they would sign to work for me. I am here to do business NOT aggravate customers. Most companies do a great job of this without any piling on.

And, for two great examples just look at the beating the NFL and NBA have taken. The NBA which btw promotes a country with no human rights CHINA but yet demands BLM be acknowledged here is hypocrisy on full display. Do as I say NOT as I do. Regardless of Covid these two clown shows bottom line is shrinking and I can guarantee you it will only last so long before they are all crying.

These are all business decisions. Delta feels that they will make more in the long term by doing this. They are probably correct. Just bought more shares of Delta.

Especially when there a NO FACTS to back up your ideology. If these companies had a brain they would fire anyone in an administrative position who does this. It would be part of any contract they would sign to work for me. I am here to do business NOT aggravate customers. Most companies do a great job of this without any piling on.

^ really simple stuff

Of course you did, because clearly the best time to buy a stock is when its sitting near an all time high, they are having to cancel revenue because of a lack of customers, they need bailouts, they are losing money, and they just pissed off a chunk of the country.

Just wait til the CEO announces they are cutting that dividend.

I think they've found a solution for both of us. Red Delta & Blue Delta. 04-cheers
