According to the MPD, they said there didn’t appear to be an ongoing threat. Chief Robert Conte said it did not at this point appear to be terrorism-related. He said it didn’t appear tied to any particular member of Congress.

“Praying for the United States Capitol Police officers who were attacked at the Capitol,” Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY), tweeted. “We are still learning what’s taken place. Grateful to all the USCP and first responders who are on the scene.”

National Guard also appears to have responded after the incident to protect the area.
