Who do you think is the most popular NFL team in Columbus, the Browns, the Bengals, the Steelers, or another team?

Browns- see my prior post- a lot of people have left Northeast Ohio and have settled in Columbus. They brought their fandom with them. Much fewer people have left Cincinnati to permanently reside in Columbus. Large pockets of Bengal fandom begins in Dayton, Cincinnati and ends up in Kentucky.

Not that they give a shite, LOL.

I’ve come to realize over the years the state of Ohio is not well liked across the rest of the country. On top of that people are ok with the cities of Columbus and a Cleveland but for whatever reason Cincinnati gets the most scorn. As you said the folks in the 513 don’t care. We have our own thing going on here.

My experience of Cincy is that it doesn't feel like the rest of Ohio. Cleveland and Columbus are farther apart than Columbus and Cincy, but the cultural distance seems greater between Columbus and Cincy. Cincy isn't "Ohio" in the nuts and bolts, Paul Brown/Woody Hayes sense that the rest of the state is.

I can't put my finger on it, but Cincy feels more like, I don't know, Kentucky.

It may be Browns in NFL, but Columbus is a huge Reds town.

Normally I'd root for Cincy...not today.

Self interest.

If they do win... I'd like to see them play Georgetown in the 12th seed play in game.

Can't. The play in games are for at larges only. Georgetown will be going straight to the round of 64.
Ok didn't realize...but the 16 seed play ins are champions

The last team in the NCAA tournament field, whomever it is, should buy a steak and lobster dinner for the Houston players.

Of course, it would be a violation of NCAA rules to reward the players who won the game, whereas the NCAA would be perfectly fine with giving the coach a $1 million bonus. 01-wingedeagle

Ohio's practically a three city state (although Dayton and Toledo can certainly argue as well). I'd imagine Cleveland and Cincinnati probably find each other the less liked, Columbus probably is the middle ground. So you're saying people in Columbus dislike Cincinnati more than Cleveland? I'd think nationally Cleveland would have a worse reputation. Certainly the Browns have had a reputation for losing and bad behaved fans (they whacked Mason Rudolph's head with a pinata after the Myles Garrett incident).

Columbus considers Cincinnati part of Kentucky (KY is across the bridge on the other side of the river). Cleveland and Columbus have a bromance going on-- parts of Cleveland would rather be in Columbus and a nice chunk of Columbus is at least one generation away from formerly living in greater Cleveland, Akron, Canton or Youngstown.

As BcatMatt notes, Cincinnati is very much a city-state onto itself. We have a mixture of Appalachian culture, midwestern and in some pockets the south. There are 52 neighborhoods in the city, some of which could be confused to an outsider as being from another part of the country. Honestly, having family in both Cincinnati and Pittsburgh there are similarities between the two cities (while at the same time recognizing there are differences as well).

I fully agree with BcatMatt and C-Ave regarding Cincinnati. And I would note that Louisville and Memphis are similar in that respect. Those three cities for many reasons — politics, race, culture, ethnicity, location and history — are very different from the other cities in their respective states.

And I do agree that Pittsburgh and Cincinnati are very similar cities. In fact, I might argue there is not a better example of a "one-two city similarity punch" in the United States than those two.

And, as C-Ave notes, major congrats to Houston. I wanted the Tigers or Bearcats to win it all. But Houston was clearly the best team in the AAC.

Feel bad for Memphis. They lost two games to Houston in six days, each of which could not have been closer and could just as easily have gone the other way. I think if they had won just one of them, they would be in the tournament.

I think the AAC royally screwed up moving the 1 Memphis/Houston game to Houston. If that's at Memphis, they probably win and they're in.

To me, Cincinnati feels like a mixture of Kentucky and Munich.

And that description actually fits the historical record pretty well.
