I don't sense too much Wrigley/Fenway nostalgia from the GT fanbase. I'd wager gripes about lack of luxury seating, the awfulness of the upper north endzone, lack of ADA-compliance in the West Stands, so-so bathrooms, and so-so concessions outnumbers the Wrigley-esk fawning easily.

The new Edge Center (part of AI2020) will redo one corner of BDS. And not really effect plans to do something more holistic since Edge is right at Techwood/Bobby Dodd Way at the hard corner of where construction for BDS could be.

Do you know what is under Techwood Drive?

Before the Research Triangle Development vultures got ahold of NC State's basketball arena the WWII/Civil Defense quality sub basements and infrastructure below that was a problem with any expansion of Reynolds and that still did not address the parking problems. The developers could make more money out at the Fairgrounds and that's how we lost an on campus facility that was worth 5-8 points a game.

It seems to me that the engineering to expand on Techwood would require a building at least 60 feet deep and 80 feet above the current grade. Then you would need an elevated wrap around concourse on the north side and across the street to the Varsity Drive in. It's doable, but damn expensive.

There's lots of room to build N/S where Bobby Dodd Stadium is. The real space constraint is E/W. If you wanted to properly redo Bobby Dodd Stadium you'd have to also completely raze and replace the Bill Moore Student Success Center, the Wardlaw Center, Lyman Hall, the Emerson Building, and the office of Undergraduate Admissions. All this is behind the West (home) Stands, which are also the ye olde going back to 1910's non-ADA compliant stands. Everything that isn't the West Stands is new or renovated as of 2003.

100% Agree... I do think that they will end up adding box seats with this AD as TStan seems to be all over fundraising and I can see the addition of box seats in the future along with keeping the 'historic' nature of Grant Field.

That's not as easy as it sounds. And if you do it, you're further delaying dealing with the problem more thoroughly. GT is playing one game in the Benz in FB a year to gauge the market for premium seating and get a recruiting bump and get a publicity bump and get a few million dollars of extra revenue. When their contract with the Falcons ends in 25/26 they'll have a good idea on what the actual market is for premium seating at BDS beyond the current insufficient capacity.

Prediction: the premium seats sell out and there's a waiting list.

In 2020 they literally struggled to keep the new lights on in a couple of games. Not sure they are up for a total remodel.
