Analysis of Coaches Poll
The final coaches poll ballots are always made public. I was looking at them this morning and a few things stuck out concerning Coastal and Louisiana.

Coastal Carolina:
Most Common Rank: #12 by 14 coaches (23%)
Highest Rank #5 by Steve Campbell (South Alabama)
Lowest Rank #19 by Gus Malzahn (Auburn)
Coastal appeared on 61 of 61 coaches ballots

Louisiana:
Most Common Rank: #17 by 11 coaches (18%)
Highest Rank #10 by Ed Orgeron (LSU)
Lowest Rank #23 by Clay Helton (USC) and Scott Frost (Nebraska)
Louisiana appeared on 60 of 61 ballots - Manny Diaz (Miami) did not vote for the Cajuns

How Sun Belt Coaches Voted:
Steve Campbell - Coastal #5, Louisiana #14
Jamey Chadwell - Coastal #7, Louisiana #14
Chad Lunsford - Coastal #8, Louisiana #12
Billy Napier - Coastal #11, Louisiana #12
Jake Spavital - Coastal #9, Louisiana #12

RE: Analysis of Coaches Poll
Ok, who else is completely shocked that LSU coach voted Louisiana the highest out of anyone?
of course a coach with latech ties didnt vote for Louisiana at all, is not surprising.
in a twist of irony, Iowa st coach votes Louisiana at #17 to represent the amount his team lost by.

Orgeron voting Louisiana the highest was indeed a shock to me.

I just don't think that Coach O has that elitist attitude of P5's, especially the SEC. He started off playing at LSU, but spent all his playing years at Northwestern St. He's coached FCS, FBS, and NFL. I think he respects all programs, and recognizes when a team is talented.

I'll buy that. He also has close, personal friends from HS that played at Louisiana.

Here’s a tidbit of insider info. I know for a fact that O wanted the UL job after we fired Bustle. Bad. But we couldn’t even come close to his salary demands. $1 million per year at the time seemed insane. We were in such bad shape that we once had to pay him in gift cards to be a freakin’ recruiting consultant. So we went with Hud. And the rest is... well you know the saying.

RE: Analysis of Coaches Poll
So if you were voting in the poll, where would you put Coastal and Louisiana?
I'd put Coastal at #7 and Louisiana at #13
