Army/AFA to play in Texas in 2021 and 2022
It is to be called the "Commanders' Classic" and played in Globe Life Field. It will be the first football game played at Globe Life. Sort of looks like AFA and Army are trying to keep up with Navy.
I look at this just announced development, the WAC-16 breakup, and now it appears Boise State and SDSU want in the AAC? What is the lesson to be learned here?
The WAC-16 threw away the state of Texas and Tulsa....and now it appears some MWC schools want back in Texas via AAC membership.
The "Commanders' Classic" is not being played in California, New York, Utah, Chicago, or Denver....but in Texas in the Metroplex. Hmmm....
Congrats to Navy who plays and recruits in Texas (Houston and SMU), Louisiana (Tulane), Tennessee (Memphis), and Oklahoma (Tulsa)....plus the east in Ohio (Cincinnati), Pennsylvania (Temple), Florida (UCF & USF), and North Carolina (ECU). How many football recruits can you pull out of New Mexico, Wyoming, Idaho, or Nevada?
I am wandering around with my thoughts in this post but I found the Army/AFA announcement interesting. There are three bowls in the Dallas/Ft. Worth metroplex, Frisco, First Responders in the old Cotton Bowl, and Armed Forces (Ft. Worth @TCU). It would be nice to move one of those bowls to Globe Life Field and make it an annual AAC bowl....and none of this pool nonsense.

Football games in baseball stadiums are, um, interesting.

I'll wait to see but I believe they altered the original plan ever so slightly for a decent configuration for football. That it has a roof is an advantage to me, especially for a late December bowl game.

Is this a new bowl that will basically have Army and Air Force anchoring on one side. Or, is this a regular season game both of these years played on a neutral field.

That what I thought but wanted clarity. I haven't seen any mention of new bowls recently. Thanks for the input. ESPN will be lucky to fill the bowls they have this year the way the PAC-12 schools and ACC schools are dropping like flies announcing that they will not participate in bowls if offered. Seems like the players and coaches have had enough in this Covid-19 season and are prepared to move on to next year.

OTA CBS...
I have always thought that Air Force should move their CIC games to strategic dates. While a zero week match up would be ideal similar to the Army/Navy game after the championships, I always though they should play a game as close to Veterans' Day as possible if not on it.
BYU, Army, AFA are my ideal football adds. With all three Academies in conference, I would put the three games on Vets day, Thanksgiving weekend, and special after the championship OOC for Army/Navy. It would keep something for the kids to keep working towards even in bad years since the trophy would be decided towards the end of the season.
I think it would help to build up the AFA match ups, even more so if the conference championship and a NY6 invite is in play. I was surprised at how mediocre the ratings have been for those, I think making it more prominent would be beneficial to all three. Ideally we will see that Air Force/Navy go on OTA for Navy/AAC exposure every year.
