Kelly (Smelly) Shorts Stadium Upgrades... Thoughts?
Happy Thanksgiving Bronco Fans!
I hope everyone stays safe and healthy as we wind down this insane year.

For those who saw The Brown and Gold mow down the chips last week, I'm wondering if folks took notice of the improvements in Mt. Misery.

Looks like that toolshed is gone... replaced by a fancy and huge new scoreboard.

Kudos to them... I think it will take modern things like big, shiny scoreboards with bright lights (and the ability to put points on them) to put butts in the seats moving forward.

I love the improvements to Waldo under PJ, including the double video boards in the east end zone. I do think we need to add two more video boards in the west end zone (at ground level, where there's currently backlit advertising -- usually our friend Ziegler Automotive). Put some nice video boards in those spots for up to the minute play by play stats and fun fan stuff (and advertising).

And maybe some "ribbon boards" in the center on the west end zone between the two video boards.

Yeah, it's expensive for fancy video boards, but if Lester can pull off a solid season and a bowl win, maybe he can do a little fundraising next year (when the economy turns around). I think the video board improvements would really help the atmosphere (see Reed Fieldhouse).

cMU has some nice upgrades and a big flashy new scoreboard, but so far we we own the "'New' Smelly Shorts" 1-0 (and the Cannon is OURS)!

And I'll take WALDO over anything in Mt. Misery Every Single Time!

Go Broncos!

Beat the Huskies!

The champions center is a huge upgrade over the toolshed and is nice mostly because it's new. I find the design kind of...boring. I also think it's way too close to the field. The second level is practically hanging over the field. Extra points just doink right off of the top of the building. And it renders seats in the corner of the stadium useless, because it practically blocks their view.

As far as the videoboard, again it's a huge upgrade over what was there, and it's nice. But it's also ridiculously big and makes the stadium look even smaller than it is. It's excessive and is a bad look for a school that is hemorrhaging money and students.

You can call me biased and I probably am, but those are my honest opinions. They are big upgrades, but I think the design choices could have been better.

It's basically Toolshed 2.0

Seelye Center has that beat by miles!

Go Broncos!

They didn't talk about the improvements to Central's stadium during our game vs them. I was surprised. Must not be worth mentioning?

Eh, good enough for who it's for.

Took them long enough, most everybody in MAC has had such a facility for awhile.

It is funny to see PATs doink off it though.

I think the ESPN folks were doing play by play remotely... they were no where near Mt. Misery. Good for them!

Go Broncos!
