Again. Masks are primarily about preventing others from getting it. Not protecting yourself.

A HS/college kid wearing a mask to potentially protect others, like perhaps his grandma, is a pu$$y now? Interesting theory.

I'd rather be considered a pu$$y than a selfish jerk completely lacking any compassion or concern for anyone but himself. But you do you, I guess.

We're already seeing some of them. People getting COVID, then weeks later dealing with myocarditis or other heart-related conditions. That's what we're talking about here. People are calling it "the flu" but sweeping that stuff under the rug. It's not just people with underlying conditions or in the at-risk category that need to be concerned about this.

As has been said since February: This is a novel virus. There's still a lot to learn about it before accurately assessing the risks. Those whose kneejerk reaction was to say its a whole lot of nothing were simply wrong. I wish they had been the ones who were in the right.
My my a simple google search tells me that the FLU, yes, the dreaded Flu has many of the same dreaded side effects you are worried about:

Happy Reading!

For the record, I don’t recommend chastising anyone either. They’re free to be as unintelligent as they want to be. I’m free to have a good laugh.

How many HS/College age kids are visiting Grandma every 14 days even before COVID?

That’s my favorite BS example. “I’m protecting grandma!!!”

So CG, would you wear mask at a drive thru? Just curious?

That is not the question at hand. My observation was of people driving down the road with masks on by themselves in a car to which you defended. Stop trying to move the target

I haven't said a word to a single person wearing masks. I really don't care. I just spent a week in the mountains and we hike a lot. It was hilarious to watch people suffocating themselves walking up mountain trails with masks on. And especially the ones who kept the masks down, but then raised them over their mouths when they passed my free breathing family.

Lol. No.

I’ve literally never been that close to people at the drive thru anyways to necessitate it.

Here’s the deal dude. Y’all can call me selfish, whatever. I don’t care. I wear a mask at work, when it is required. Aside from that. I’m not wearing one. Y’all do you. I don’t care. If you want to wear a mask at Target, wear one. If you want to wear a mask at a drive thru, wear one. If you want to wear a mask while on the phone with your son who is an engineering student at NCSU with a 4.0 gpa (not sure why that was relevant anyways), wear one. If you want to wear a mask while you sit in your office and reply to me, wear one.

I’m pro choice, ya know.

Agree, especially ones in busy settings. We just bought a new mattress and those guys were not wearing them until we walked in(which is understandable)

Of course. When I’ve been, they’re usually wearing one when I go through the drive thru. I don’t think anything of it. I don’t respect them more for it, and I don’t disrespect them for it. Same when I see people in public. I’m all for people should be allowed to wear them if they want or not wear them if they don’t want to. Forcing people to is just not something I support.

Why is this mind numbing conversation being posted here and not under off topic? You have a thread about fall sports at UNCW being cancelled about COVID.

Y’all want to keep bickering about masks that’s fine, peoples opinions are set at this point. To me the mask is like a dress code requirement. No one complains their rights are being infringed when they’re told to wear a t shirt.

Because as people want to, and hopefully more often... they can make all their UNCW/NCAA/COVID related posts here instead of a new thread each time (there’s been several). Furthermore, it’s the norm on many other college boards on this site as well.

Don’t wanna read it? Don’t open it. As long as this stays away from politics people can post on it.

Additionally people’s opinions on anything are generally “set”. That factor alone doesn’t negate a person’s right to state their opinion.

Just found it interesting since there were a Cornavirus thread you had already started in the off topic thread. It seems duplicative

It is, but I’ve also noticed that folks tend to not use the Off Topic thread. Plus, having this here allows people to put in all the NCAA updates, etc into this thread and kind of condense all of that.

Always looking for new ways to keep everyone happy around here, but like my grandad used to tell me... “You ain’t gonna make everyone happy unless ya drive an ice cream truck. Ya wanna make your livin’ drivin’ an ice cream truck?”

To be honest, that doesn't sound like a bad gig right now.

If you like to wear a mask in a 120 degree ++ truck that might be a great option :)

Oh so that’s where you get your phrases from.

And here I thought you were the wise, creative type! 03-wink
