The issue isn't the season the tweet's referring to. The issue is they're preparing for the possibility of no fans till there's a vaccine. No matter what year you interpret it as. I think interpreting next year as 20-21 is just as bad as 21-22, although 21-22 would be a death sentence. No fans is not sustainable.

Oh BS. I’ve lived in several large cities around the country with large, successful NBA entities. I’ve lived in less than affluent neighborhoods in those parts too. I’ve seen all the commercials. I’ve never heard of knowing one person myself or even an a person associated to an acquaintance who benefited from their existence.

If anything, all major sports stars do is drive up the cost of their personal shoes due to their massive shoe deals. Folks in less than affluent neighborhoods seem to have thrive in the misconception that owning a pair of those shoes or brand of clothing equals success, while they never learn to pay real bills and save for things that improve wealth (college, property, etc).

The idea that NBA culture and their target audience (youth apparently according to some here) are sustaining the community at a greater economic rate than they pull for it is an ignorant and absurd take. Additionally, if their target audience is the youth... they’re only shooting themselves in the foot, as the youth don’t pay for tickets (which is 40% of the league’s income). The league won’t be able to survive long term if that’s their primary audience.

I'm going off the theory every part of the economy & every transaction done is part of it - nationally & locally. Taking an established name out period like the NBA would be bad overall nationally.

I do agree with you I believe the NBA is more niche then they & the talking heads on ESPN would have people believe.
