RE: How is everybody doing?
We are well stocked. Still getting restaurant food from friends establishments on occasion.

My son is a jr at OSU in Stillwater, Ok. When he was coming home for spring break I told him to bring everything he needs to finish the semester here and sure enough all his classes are on line now. He is adjusting to that but being a Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering major he had labs and now they are figuring how to do that on line.

My wife still goes to the small (amount of people) office she works for and we only go the store for essentials.

I have been working from home the last three weeks including this one as directed by my company. My company just had a layoff in February and then we reorganized in March and I had a new team spread across the country to get to know. I made a trip to Wisconsin in early March and the minute I landed, turned my phone on and the president of my company directed travelers to come home after their visit as long as it wasn't beyond March 11. So now I'm trying to get to know my 65 new engineers by skype and phone.

And to top it off we were informed today our pay will be cut by 20% and to reduce our work hours by 20% all due to CV-19 and the slowdown in orders from our customers.

Feel for ya brother. My owner went to self isolate at the lake. His son is running things now. His final comment before walking out the door today was “the governor is going way overboard with these closings. Thankfully, we’ll stay on the essential list but I guess things will slow down because not much is open for us to make repair calls. It’s so ridiculous”

I joked a few weeks ago that we’d be working until someone in our office got it and then they’d have us in hazmat suits. Anyone got an extra suit laying around??

I work from home, so not much has changed for me personally.

My wife & 2 kids have it worse, as they're used to running all over town going to see friends, to the zoo, to the park, etc. My wife is a stay at home mom, but that doesn't mean she stays at home this much. I can tell it is starting to wear on her, so I try taking more breaks than usual and come out of the office to socialize and help out.

We like to cook a lot... but we've tried to ratchet up our UberEats orders as of late, although I doubt we're making much of an impact.

As of this morning, nobody in the house is sick... so that's a good thing. I'm a little nervous about having to make a food run in the next day or so for perishables.

We are pretty well-stocked, I think. Hopefully won't have to leave the house too often.

I'm still working in the office, but I'm the only person from the finance/accounting department there. A few of the clinical staff are there but otherwise, it's a ghost town, which is fine by me. All clinical trials are on hold for the time being except for any visits that can be completed over the phone.

I'm well stocked...on ammo. Just built me a new work station in my spare bedroom/former work at home office at which I can work on my guns. Just installed spring upgrade kits and heavy duty strikers on both my FNH509 and 509 tactical and new MRDS optics on the tactical. Waiting on a new Apex trigger and a compensator for the tactical to come in tomorrow hopefully. Every bit of it made right here in the good old USofA. I plan on heading to the farm Saturday if the rain holds off and figure out how to shoot a pistol with optics on it, I've never used them on a handgun before. I'm in hog heaven right now.

Yeah, have two elderly parents in poor health in Texas, one who just got out of the hospital. Fortunately one of my sisters is there. Was planning on being there this week, but obviously that is off.

RE: How is everybody doing?
I've mowed everything in sight and part of the neighbor's yard, gotten the garden ready for tilling, pulled all of the foreign plants out of my blueberries, toted fallen limbs and debris to the street, and have started digging up bamboo briar by the root and pulling vines out of the backyard fence. Honestly I helped a box turtle yesterday which had the most unusual problem. He had mounted the female while she was walking up a hill and had fallen on his back while still engaged. Poor guy he couldn't pull out and couldn't remount. So like the thoughtful soul I am I repositioned him and as much as a turtle can look thankful he did. Now I only relate this story because that's how damned bored I am.

We stocked up a month ago and have just now started running out of milk. Publix will deliver. So the highlight of my evening will be placing an online Publix order. My wife has made me her version of a N95 mask so with my rubber gloves I'm ready now for Turtle gynecology! I haven't even seen my first snake this year and so far no rabbits either. At least the bees are pollinating!

It would be a perfect time to paint the inside of the house but I didn't have the foresight to get the paint before the panic. And with the students gone there are nothing but old ladies to look at when you walk. And I noticed on the trail the other day that even the squirrels were practicing social distancing. And one of them flashed a sign at me that read, "No Nuts For the Chicoms!"

Yes Mensa you had better stay away. Even the squirrels in Auburn are conservative and have been known to attack liberals. They can do it without fear of prosecution because being a squirrel has some advantages.

Hell even the racoons are anti-social these days.

I'll look forward to June and July when I can pick my blueberries and will probably only plant peas, butterbeans and potatoes this year. What good are tomatoes when you can't take your excess to the neighbors.

But the great part of all of this so far is that nobody is speeding down our street anymore. The neighbors all still go for a walk but you see them step out to mid street when passing somebody on the sidewalk.

It's so bizarre.

RE: How is everybody doing?
My wife and I are retired so we don't need to go out to work. Me, for the past 18 years and my wife for about 7. We used to be really active and would just use the house as a motel to sleep in unless we had to do house thingys. Now my wife is sick with MSA and has gotten a little worst as many things she could do she can barely do. It kills me to see her suffer so I've gotten to do those chores too. I've become her everything and I do it willingly and lovingly but she's a woman so sometimes she can get on my nerves but it's not because she's sick, it's because she's a woman, LOL. Today for instance I watered the potted plants outside made breakfast for both of us. Went for Churches chicken, baked a pineapple upside down cake which I don't turn over. I just remembered that I haven't made the bed, cheetos. I really do a lot of stuff that I didn't do before and I sure rack up a lot of miles catering to my wife and doing household chores. Oh, I did the wash too. The other day I was wondering if I had the Wuflu because I was so darn tired at bedtime but I went over my list of chores and I realized why I was...tired. Tomorrow we have to cook the pork rinds in a soup base. It's called Chicharrones and they are delicious. I like making them a little dry so that I can prepare them with refried beans in a tortilla (burritos). We'll make a meal out of that and freeze the rest for another day. I have to head to the store for some stuff we need and I think I'll go when it gets dark and there's not too many people instead of during the day. That's the only time we go out as my wife is afraid of going to PT because of the virus. It's a good thing that I've sowed my wild oats and can be patiently content in staying home in my old age. Before I would be climbing up the walls. I've got TP to last a while but I realize that I'll be needing some more soon and I sure hope I can get my hands on some.

I miss my grandkids and would see them at T-ball but not any more as they've been cancelled. I miss them and pictures aren't the same thing. Boo hoo, boo hoo. 03-wink

How is everybody doing?
We’re doing okay, all things considered. Our 10 year old son has somewhat settled into schoolwork at home. His school has sent weekly lesson plans with pdf’s & video links to work on, then they have optional (public school - not all students in the system have access to computers/WiFi) zoom calls with his teachers & classmates. They also set up edmodo accounts for each subject’s teacher to allow communication outside of the calls. He also has club soccer drills/workouts & zoom calls with his team to keep him active.

My work is slow, but I still have a job. My husband’s contract was suspended for 90 days, so he filled out forms for unemployment yesterday. TN’s unemployment benefit is ridiculously low, so the covid package from the federal government will help a lot once it comes into play. We keep reminding ourselves with me carrying the health benefits, we’re a lot better off than some.

My 83 year old Mom is 20 minutes away but by herself, but she’s doing well. She grew up in the depression & WWII, so this isn’t foreign to her. My father in law, who lives in rural west TN, had to go to Vanderbilt last week for a heart cath where they did a stent, but he’s at home now & doing fine. He actually went fishing the other day.

The fridge is full, the 3 of us have our health, and there’s plenty of beer, wine, and vodka. Zoom calls with friends at night help with the isolation.

Even with the loss of 2/3 of our household income, complaining would be silly.

RE: How is everybody doing?
My life hasn’t changed much since this started. I retired in last April, one year ago on the 14th. My fiancé is an essential. She is in charge of the lunch program that’s presently feeding over 21,000 students two meals a day for Jefferson County Public Schools. She will retire in 2021.

We were well prepared for this pandemic for two reasons. One I have never trusted the government for anything. My family is from the hills of Eastern Kentucky. Self reliance is part of my DNA. We built the first white settlement East of the Alleghenies in the 1780’s.

When this story started breaking in December and January, my natural distrust of the government and my independent, self reliant streak made me underestimate its severity. Thankfully I had started preparing for this for another reason.

Last June I took my Granddaughters on a trip to the Cabbage Patch Hospital in Cleveland, Georgia. While driving through Kentucky, across Tennessee into North-central Georgia last June I noticed the fields that hadn’t been planted or were just being planted. My natural response when I got home was to start hoarding food.

Over about a three month period last summer to early fall I purchased approximately 7 cases of each of what I consider essential vegetables, beans and meats. I still remember the looks I was getting for pushing cases of can goods to the checkout at Walmart and IGA.

Since October I have been going to the store about once a month while my fiancé worked. I simply replaced the cans I used each month with more can goods. I keep a minimal amount of fresh meat, about a months worth, in the freezer at anyone time because I worry about the electrical grid. I have a 7000w generator ready to go in the shed if I need it.

This spring I have started learning to dry meat. Both my grandparents had smoke houses but preserving meat is something I had never done.

I am presently rotating through the water supplies that have collected since last year. I buy the 40 bottle packs when available. I have tried to keep 20 on hand. My last trip to the stores in early March I bought 10 cases.

This spring I am growing two gardens. One at our home here in Fairdale and one at my step son’s home about a mile away. I presently have my tomato plants seeded in the basement under grow lights.

My Dad and I often talked about buying property back in the hills and building a cabin using the techniques of our forefathers and adding things like solar panels and a basement. I believe that will be my next project.

I hope each of you was well prepared for this situation. I pray if you weren’t that you start preparing as soon as this situation eases or breaks. This won’t be the last time we see something like this.

Now that the government has seen how effectively fear paralyzes the people these type of events will happen more often.

Good luck
Keep your powder dry...

Luckily working from home. I hate it, but still collecting a paycheck so who am I to complain? Kids getting a 6 month summer. Never see them... they are out all day with friends while the neighborhood Karens on Facebook try to shame everyone. Wife is losing it.

They mad at life. They are actually having to spend time with their little ahole special angels rather that letting the government program them. They want the government to go full jackboot. Invest in prozac, xanax and things that buzz-they cant make that shite fast enough

Bwahahaha.

Look up Turgua Brewery. It shouldn't be *too* far from you. 3131 Cane Creek Rd in Fairview. They have some of the best beer I've ever tasted. And the folks making it are great people.

RE: How is everybody doing?
I’m a 70 year old physician and my wife is a 65 year old nurse. I was blithely plowing onward with my already scaled down practice till about 3 weeks ago. At that point my family and Jr. partners told I was f’ng crazy to be at the office/hospital anymore. So, I’ve suspended my practice for April/May. Not sure what happens after that. Oh, well..’was gonna retire this Fall anyway.

It’s just my wife and I. My grown kids....son and his family in Austin, daughter and boyfriend in Charlotte....FaceTime us every day. “Checking on the elderly” they call it. Hilarious.
We are really trying hard to stay at home. Basically get out twice a week for an hour or so to get groceries, meds, etc.

Everybody has heartbreaking stories regarding these times. Many people and families are really suffering with job loss, sickness, financial problems. We feel fortunate that we’re healthy so, far and that we are able to help friends and family.

My sweet little mother is in a Sr. Living home. Her 91st birthday is this coming Wednesday. We haven’t been able to visit her in weeks. I’m not sure what we can do for her birthday celebration other than call or FaceTime. She’s very lonely. Makes me sad.

RE: How is everybody doing?

Damn, I've only ever met wacked out democrats from Eastern KY. Good to know that everyone from that part of the state isn't a loon!

I had a direct report who lived in Louisa, I couldn't stand that weirdo. He was a typical democrat, lazy as hell, entitled and weak. I tried to fire him on multiple occasions, with good reason, and since KY is a union state they always stepped in and saved that worthless lump of flesh every single time.
