My quarantine is over. We've done our 15 days. I encourage everyone to get out and about and go about your life the best you can. This schit isn't going to stop unless the numbers of defiers make it impossible to enforce.

I'm a skeptic, but I'm still following instructions. I don't have all the information. We're minimizing our trips out around other people.

If people ignore it, government can't do anything. The worst case could happen.

Atlanta has a shelter in place, but my wife was driving around (just to get out of the house) and saw the main park, Piedmont Park, packed with people in big groups and the bars in the area full. The mayor has said someone she was with on Spring Break has it.

Exactly---all these "its just the flu" folks cant answer one key question. If its just the flu, why is it overwhelming healthcare systems in China, Italy, Spain....and soon New York? Flu doesnt do that to modern healthcare systems. While it apparently is easily handled by the vast majority of the population---for about 15% of the people---its very very serious. I think that's really the difference. The hospitalization rate for flu is only about 28,000 a year in the US. Covid-19 seems to cause more cases of critical illness.

Do you really believe that? In a one month period, this year, on the back end of flu season...according to the CDC there were 100,000 hospitalized with the flu from Feb 15th to March 14th

Below total for the year...so far
Quote:CDC estimates that so far this season there have been at least 39 million flu illnesses, 400,000 hospitalizations and 24,000 deaths from flu.

The reason some healthcare systems are being over ran...panic!. Instead of treating the symptoms, just as they do the flu...with is about the same. They are putting more people in the hospital off a positive coronavirus test.

As I said in another post...2 cities, same size, 70 miles apart (I live in one)...in one everyone that tested positive was put in the hospital. The other only...has 1 person hospitalized. They both have 1 death from the virus. One panics and the other treating this off the symptoms.

Here's the flu up till 2018....810,000 hospitalized

In this country, the people decide. If there are people out and about and ignoring shelter in place in large scale, obviously they decided the order isn't happening. I'm going to the beach today.

What if most of us have already had it?
(03-27-2020 07:22 AM)Fort Bend Owl Wrote:  I kind of suspect I may have it right now in a very mild case. No temperature or cough or fatigue (which seem to be the 3 most common symptoms), but occasional mild headaches. I continue to take my temperature every morning, do a silly smell test which probably isn't needed (but I smell a super spicy can of pringles to make sure I haven't lost my sense of smell), and then take quite a bit of precautions at work.

I'm hoping my general good health and 0- blood type keeps everything mild for me and my family.

Lol
Keep sniffin on them Pringle’s. And if you DO have it, and one of your kids or spouse decides to eat a lil stack?

Damn man. Go sniff your private glue or paint instead!

This. The flu is the reason hospitals are overwhelmed. As the weather gets warmer there will be more hospital beds available. This adding to the total is getting old. It would be like everyday the weather guy telling us how much rain we've had year to date. First case was Jan. 20. That was 9 weeks ago. Alot more than listed have recovered.

Howard Kurtz (who claims to be unbiased and honest), just announced the first child (<1yr) is dead from the #muhcrono19

yet, he doesn't explain anything else which most certainly involves underlying conditions that too many have tried to point out during this 'pandemic'....
