Same. I said 40-80k.
DJT's failed leadership in handling this probably contributed to that toll somewhat but I think the lacking pandemic-addressing infrastructure and a lack of public health education in the general populace probably contributed more.

Wonder how many of the deaths were actually because of COVID.

Certain states didnt fail. If we had governor leadership in NY, NJ, MI, etc like we saw in FL and TX, total deaths would have been a tiny fraction of what they were. Maybe if Cuomo was more concerned about disinfecting subways instead of being blown daily by his brother on tv, it would have cut way down on the NY travesty.

RE: Confidence in Trump’s Corona Virus Leadership
The moment we discovered that China kept a lid on covid-19 and allowed it to spread to the world - INTENTIONALLY - there was nothing we were ever going to be able to do to mitigate UNTIL HERD IMMUNITY IS ESTABLISHED. JFC are the majority of people in America stupid if they think quarantines and rolling back the reopenings was going to reduce infections, hospitalizations and deaths. The virus will run its course, and if it has to wait it will wait.
From all levels of government, they are not giving us the whole truth. All we are doing is trying to manage the utilization rates of the hospitals. The goal is - and always has been - to not overrun the healthcare system. This has nothing to do with reducing infections and deaths. That's done, and it's no different than the annual flu virus that we live with today.
There is no critical thinking, no natural distrust of the gov't, no desire to maintain liberties and no desire to maintain top status as the preeminent world super power. Stupidity abounds all around us. Fvcking morons you whole lot are, and you know who I'm referring to...

Uhhhh Texas is a ******* mess. Can confirm, live in Texas. The state is a mess right now with Covid. Opening closing opening closing, thousands of deaths, hundreds of thousands infected. Mask no mask mask no mask. Total failure from both democrat and republican leadership. And Florida? The 2 states are seeing record breaking numbers TODAY. Leadership nationwide failed us.
GTFOOH with that.

Which is worse? cases or deaths?
Those states have 10% of New York deaths. Why isn't anyone in media pressing Cuomo?

No matter what Trump would have pursued, he was going to be painted as wrong. This was no win from day one. Pathetic, but it's the truth.
I was watching CBS this morning and they had the Atlanta mayor on for an interview and they allowed her to blast the GOP governor of GA. No problem if it's on a political pundit show on cable news - NOT OK for the weekday morning news. That's the blatant bias in the MSM. Seriously, on the weekday morning news...Why is that allowed to happen??? Care to comment JD?

When the Feds set aside $200 Billion to treat the virus all bets were off. There was nothing anyone could do. People don't get rid of viruses.
