The AAC's conference rpi has been rising, after a few early season losses, and is now on an upward trend.
At this point, seven AAC teams are ranked in the rpi top 100.
The AAC ratings & rankings have, however, been held down by the fact that the conference's overall strength of schedule (SOS) is currently 5th lowest among all d1 conferences.
The average SOS across conferences is currently in the .50 to .51 range. The AAC's average SOS is only .4675 at present.
There are five AAC teams with SOS rankings below 300th in the nation: Tulsa, USF, SMU, Tulane, and ECU (SOS ratings below .4000). In addition, WSU's ranking is #279th in the nation, (SOS rating: .4318).

Most probably, the conference's SOS ratings will rise in the remaining weeks of non-conference play, and early season ratings typically aren't reliable predictors of mid to late season performance.
On the other hand, with close to 1/3 of the OOC schedule completed, if the conference's SOS ratings don't improve significantly in the coming weeks, the AAC teams with low SOS rankings may need to win more games than they would, otherwise, in order to make it into post-season play.
