I can live with Cincy and Memphis ahead at this moment but there’s a very strong case App should be the highest ranked G5.
Lmao. TCU is a better win that any team you just mentioned, and App just leapfrogged the team that beat them...
In what way is TCU a better win than USC or UNC? I’ve seen JV teams in Texas with better offenses. If anything they’re more similar wins than not, and App has 2 of those wins. But i guess your “lmao” means you’re right!
The "lmao" had nothing to do with defending any argument I made; it was simply me laughing at your ridiculous comment that 2 teams under .500 were the best "G5" wins of the season. I thought that was fairly obvious...
I would agree they are comparable wins, but TCU is yet to lose to a team that is .500 or worse. Their worst lost is to a 5-4 Iowa State team, and they lost their past 2 games by a combined 13 points to teams that are currently ranked in the CFP. I know almost is only good in horseshoes and hand grenades, so I'm not trying to pump up those losses as anything special, merely point out they aren't getting blown out by these teams. They've also beaten a ranked Texas team. Let's compare that to the 2 teams you're saying are the "best G5 wins."
South Carolina: They've beaten a very good Georgia team, but were also blown out a garbage Tennessee team and lost to a below average UNC. I'll take the team with 1 good win and no losses to teams below .500 over the team with 1 good win and 2 losses to teams below .500
UNC: Their best win is Miami. Most of their losses have been close, but so have most of their wins. They're just not a very good football team. So they have no bad losses, but their best win is a 6-4 Miami team. I'll take a win over Texas against a win over Miami if we're comparing records.
The strength of record for all 3 teams: TCU (55), South Carolina (58), UNC (61). Comparable, but a slight edge to TCU.
As you said, they're comparable wins, but TCU not losing to any bad teams while still having a win over a ranked Texas team gives them a slight edge when comparing records. But even saying the wins are comparable largely refutes your point that USC and UNC are "the best G5 wins."
