Exclamation Sun Belt Coach fill in the blank (November edition)
Still some football left to be played, but thought this might make an interesting discussion:

1. Of all the first-year coaches, _______ has been the most impressive considering the hand they've been given (choices are Jamey Chadwell, Eliah Drinkwitz, Jake Spavital, Chip Lindsey).

2.Of all the first-year coaches, _______ has probably underperformed the most considering what they inherited.

3. Which head coach's seat is the hottest as of right now? _________.

4. ________ is the favorite to get Sun Belt coach of the year for 2019.

5. Thoughts on your team's coaching staff so far?

1. Drink
2. Lindsey
3. Campbell, but honestly he should get 2 more years. At least.
4. Napier
5. B+ so far. The Defense has found their rhythm. The offense is dealing with some injuries but are still potent enough to win any game.

5. Thoughts on your team's coaching staff so far? I'll give GS a B- only because of the App win and the fact we are on the verge of bowl eligibility. Offensive coaching is a solid C and Defensive coaching is maybe a B+ so far. If we go on to win out the grade will improve.

1. Of all the first-year coaches, _______ has been the most impressive considering the hand they've been given (choices are Jamey Chadwell, Eliah Drinkwitz, Jake Spavital, Chip Lindsey).

Think it goes without saying, ole Drink has been a home run hire for App (makes me really wish we had zero in on him, but Terry is all about making a PR splash hire). I think Spavital and Chadwell were both solid hires for the Bobcats and Chants and we will see improvement from both squads;

2.Of all the first-year coaches, _______ has probably underperformed the most considering what they inherited.
Chip Lindsey certainly has had a disappointing first season but I still think he'll get the Trojans rolling before too long.

3. Which head coach's seat is the hottest as of right now? _________.
Had it not been for his personal tragedy at the beginning of the season, it would be Blake Anderson's; however, I think you've gotta go with Viator. Despite the obvious challenges he and any other coach will face leading the ULM football program, you can only choke away multiple leads in games and suffer losses for so long

4. ________ is the favorite to get Sun Belt coach of the year for 2019.
Coin flip between Drink and Shawn Elliot.

5. Thoughts on your team's coaching staff so far?
Again, BA gets a slight pass given the tragedy he endured along with the incredibly bad luck of having nearly half your starters injured for either multiple games or the whole dang year; he'll definitely be back but I would be really surprised if he leads the red wolves to another 7 win season and bowl loss and not see some significant changes.

3. Which head coach's seat is the hottest as of right now? Steve Campbell and Chip Lindsey. (tough to say whose is hotter)

4. Shawn Elliot is the favorite to get Sun Belt coach of the year for 2019.

5. Thoughts on your team's coaching staff so far?
They've been recruiting well. The offense is much more prolific under Lindsey than Neal Brown. Most fans, including myself, are upset that our D is so terrible after having 3 seasons of a nationally-ranked D... but as much as I hate it, I was wary of our D this season because of all the graduation and transfers that occurred on that side of the ball. There honestly wasn't much Lindsey could do. But he's done a great job giving young defensive players some reps, and he's been signing some P5 transfers on defense and has recruited a few nice DB's. Hopefully the plan is for our defense to be locked and loaded for 2020.

We're only a few bad breaks away from being 6-2 at this point. We caught some bad luck against USM and lost by 5... Barker had bad luck against StAte, throwing an INT and a fumble return for a TD, which basically gave the StAte the 7-point win. We lost by 1 on a freak last-second 2-point conversion to Coastal.

Is none an answer? Chadwell took over a 5-7 team and has them at 3 wins. Drinkwitz inherited a Ferrari, Spavital hasn't done anything, and Lindsey has Troy looking quite bad.

2.Of all the first-year coaches, _______ has probably underperformed the most considering what they inherited.

Chip Lindsey, no question.

3. Which head coach's seat is the hottest as of right now? _________.

Steve Campbell. I get it's a tough job, but you can't keep a guy around that's won 4 games in 2 seasons.

4. ________ is the favorite to get Sun Belt coach of the year for 2019.

Shawn Elliot.

5. Thoughts on your team's coaching staff so far?

Defense has been excellent, no complaints. Offensively, I won't be bothered if DeBesse decides to retire at the end of the year.

1. Chadwell
2. Spavital
3. Campbell
4. Napier

5. I think they've done better than our fans have given credit for. We're in the 2nd week in November and still control our own destiny.

3. Which head coach's seat is the hottest as of right now? Anderson not that I think he's going to get fired anytime soon just the rest of the conference has new or fairly new coaches whose seats haven't had a chance to get warm yet.

4. Drinkwitz is the favorite to get Sun Belt coach of the year for 2019.

5. Thoughts on your team's coaching staff so far?
We have three losses, two against #1 and #13 and one against the favorite to win the western division. During those 4 games, we were without our starting qb, best rb, and working through several issues on the OL. We looked wobbly up until the last few games, but we now are on a 4 game win streak, on the cusp of being bowl eligible, and have a win over a top 25 team. I'm pleased with the way things have been going, and I have to wonder if the beginning of our season wouldn't have been so worrisome with all our pieces in place. I think Lunsford is the man for us, and I think we can hit the next level sooner than later.

We have 4 wins (4-4 record), but ok.

Spav is fine for now. Too soon to be on the hot seat, even with the bad season.

4. Blake Anderson is the favorite to get Sun Belt coach of the year for 2019. Historically the award has gone to a champion or co-champion, exceptions have been for certain achievements. In 2015 AState was picked third and went 8-0 and coach of the year didn't go to Anderson, it went to Trent Miles for finishing 5-3 and third instead of the projected 8th. AState was tabbed 2d in the West, if they can hang on to it or finish better, figure Anderson gets it because of the adversity of Wendy passing away.

5. Thoughts on your team's coaching staff so far?
Defense at AState looked awful first part of the year but has adjusted. While the offense has improved significantly primarily because of a new O Line coach but the new OC is adjusting the offense to what is available.
