LSU was just better than we were today. Bigger, stronger, faster, more athletic. We couldn’t stop them on offense. We couldn’t turn them over.

It was fun while it lasted! No worries about the loss. Just learn from the mistakes and use it to get better. Can't have many off days in ASUN competition. Losses there will REALLY hurt.

As long as we don’t lose in the tournament it doesn’t really matter

RE: 19-20 BASKETBALL SEASON
I believe we can go undefeated in conference play, and think if we lost more than two conference games it would be a surprise.

That being said, did our chance to be ranked in the Top 25 disappear in the loss to LSU. There are no “quality” games left on our schedule.

If we finish the regular season 30-1 or 28-3, are we still an unranked team? I can easily see it playing out that way.

I think if we go 30-1 we’d be in the low 20’s. Another loss and we won’t get in at all.

How we perform from now on will help or hurt our seeding in the NCAA tournament if we make it. I don't expect us to be able to earn a better seed but we sure could drop.

Even at 30-1 best case is probably a 9 seed. Worst case we drop to like 27-4 and get a 13.

We have to win the conference tournament regardless. We won’t be going to the NCAA tourny unless that occurs.

I know FGCU is not good, but we made that look easy.

RE: 19-20 BASKETBALL SEASON
I wonder what happened to Ria Gulley. She was a good guard for the Lady Flames but is no longer listed on the roster.

Lady Flames pick up the win today over NJIT and move to 8-6 on the season. Keep it up ladies. They face FGCU next in Ft. Myers. If we keep it within 20 points I will be happy.

For those who closely follow the MBB team, is LU recruiting more athletic players than in the past?

Edit: I'm asking if the MBB program is closing the athletic gap?

Yes, much more athletic. Kyle Rode is a freshman but is probably one of the best on the team already. Our other freshmen are extremely talented and getting plenty of playing time. Isiah Warfield, incoming next year, is ranked 280 in high school, and will be a tough guard. All in all the players are getting much better it just takes time.

RE: 19-20 BASKETBALL SEASON
We had almost three times the attendance of the other three ASUN basketball games combined yesterday. I like the ASUN but this is another reason we need to try get into a conference for all sports imo.

Liberty attendance: 6,008

NJIT, UNA and Jacksonville combined attendance: 2,034

McCaw is planning to do other studies on other conferences like the AAC and is fine were we are. This means we have nowhere to go right now and will need to continue to grow and win in order to gain more interest from other conferences.

+1
A10 is interesting to me. Better m/w bb but worse at baseball and softball last I checked. Some school has to move out for an opportunity. I think LU should schedule heavy southern OOC in this scenario. That means exposure on the east coast, midwest, and south.

As far as the current situation, the hope is that everyone in the ASUN continues growing and developing making the conference better.

RE: 19-20 BASKETBALL SEASON
To leave for a better conference, Liberty needs to bring value (money) to the new conference. If it's a football conference, we need to add to the media contract. For example, the American contract they just signed with ESPN is approximately $6 million (or $8 million; doesn't matter to be exact for the example). Do we essentially buy our way in by improving the media contract? To do that, we need to possess a brand that is much watch when matched up with the AAC brands. Also, would we increase ticket sales, donations, etc. for their schools by being a member?

For a non-football conferences, there likely isn't a media deal worth much with the Big East the exception. Most of the same things apply but things like adding an additional NCAA tournament bid will go a long way to making everyone more money. It's more important to be geographically close to members to not be a travel burden but not too close to overlap territory.

Personally, I believe we are stuck in the ASUN for a long time so we need to make the most of it. At least the conference has decent potential based on markets but we can't rely on the rest of the conference to pull themselves up.

Money is not the issue. Just comparing the AAC schools on the east, and our endowment surpassed them. We can definitely put money on the contract while growing our independent media on the east coast. We will definitely improve with athletics immediately if we became apart of the conference. We may not be in a big market like the rest of the teams, but ours is steadily growing since we are in a tri-city region (Roanoke, Lynchburg, Charlottesville). The Burg is one of the fastest growing cities at this time. Our main issue is that we do not have much good connection with the teams in the AAC and then politics is always involved even if people den that. We are not a grandfather school lke the others, so we are not like the others. I am not trying to be biased, but Liberty is a gem. We were used heavily in the Big South and couldn't grow athletically; it's the same in the ASUN. We have to accept the fact that we are not like the other known schools when it comes to belief, mission and politics. Simple as that.
