Yes, very much so. At least as much as I was by Obama's bowing to other foreign leaders.

President Trump is the president of the United States, not some anonymous poster on a sports/political forum. It saddens me that this is his view of how to appropriately present himself on behalf of the great nation that he leads.

At least with his tweets, you can try to shrug them off as poorly worded due to character limitations, due to small-device typing problems or simply because they are blurted out in the moment. Not so with this letter. It comes on Office of the President stationery. It should have had the benefit of prior drafts and the ability to think on what was being written. Had he not fired or driven off pretty much every advisor with enough gumption to stand up to him, this letter could have had the benefit of a cooler head and better writer. Yet this is what he comes out with.

President Obama made himself and our nation look like a bunch of deferential wussies with his habit of bowing. President Trump makes himself and our nation look like 8th graders trying to bully the 6th graders at the bus stop. And, as JDTulane pointed out, it didn't even work. The Turks went in anyway.

So, yes, this letter bothers me deeply. It should bother you also, if not for the pride that I know you have in our nation than at least for the possibility that this is now the best that our president is capable of offering in a very touchy situation.
