Anger... reality... forward
I find myself getting sucked into some commentary with posters here that defeat the purpose of my message... Fighting the ones I was defending just a few years ago and yet not agreeing with the ones that I somehow find myself aligned with...

#1. I will follow Tim Lester wherever he goes for this contract. I will support this team and continue to go to games and pay my dues. I will however ALSO continue to critique what I am seeing on the field with anyone who wants to listen... (which I thought was most people on this board.)

#2. There is NO agenda with what I want to do and if I had one would it even matter? Would it matter for anyone on this board. Yes there are individuals here who want to live in the PJ bubble of Cotton Bowl Bliss and thats just fine... but thats not reality! Reality is that we NEED to move on... for your own sanity alone. It does however not mean that we can't look at what happened and have elevated expectations for what this team and this university is capable of fielding.

#3. This board is filled with the top 1% of actual die hard WMU fans wanting someplace to vent/commiserate/celebrate and enjoy banter with other die hard WMU fans... The fierce anger between fans is basically the same as watching two WMU defensive backs punch each other mid game at home in the middle of a defensive series... Its fine to be pissed and disagree... but the flat out insanity here at this point is ridiculous. For gosh sakes I just posted an anger message directed at hoople... I love that guys posts... he's a great WMU fan... but for some reason the attitude here has become divisive to the point where even I am starting to throw barbs...

#4. PJ isn't coming back but that doesn't mean that what he showed us shouldn't be regarded as the bar we continue to shoot for.... This university and this fan base and this team should always be shooting for NY6 bowls... I refuse to be a fan that falls into that "settle" attitude of shoot for MAC championships as a #1 priority... we should be striving to be the BEST G5 program in the country... Every year.

I apologize in advance for this diatribe... but i expect more... I expect more from the community... from this team... from US....

We are all BRONCOS... and for that I am proud to be among you all... GO BRONCOS!

Good post. #3 is VERY true, although I do know SEVERAL Western Michigan Broncos diehards who are just as passionate as us on here, but do not post on here. Lot of people are very proud to be Broncos, even in bad years!
Also about #3, the personal attacks need to STOP. It's okay to debate and discuss, but should only be talking about the program. Not insulting each other.

About #4, I think it's important to remember that we haven't been the MAC favorite since 2016. Not even in 2017, the year after we went 13-1. Seemed crazy. 'We just steamrolled the MAC and this next year you don't have us repeating or even winning the Divison????'
Teams like Toledo and Northern Illinois have put together VERY good teams. At the same time, even pretty good teams fall short. Consider Ohio (always good but hasn't won the MAC in forever), Northern Illinois (who more often then not back-steps into the MAC Championship game and is now on a decline), or Toledo (another team that's pretty consistent in the Ws but usually falls short) Hopefully we will be at the top of the MAC shortly.

I definitely agree we should strive to be a top G5 school, but I'm not sure administration/other-people-in-charge have that as a goal. Ultimately, I think we need to pursue Bowl Wins and MAC Championships, and that'll get us back to a top G5 team.

I lived in Kzoo in 2016, I hate to feel like I am living in the past, but I think as a fan group we should all hope to get to live that experience again.

2014 and 15 were fun as well, seeing the team gel was magical. Perhaps we finish this season strong, building the dream and excitement for the future.

The tools are there.

Quote:#1. I will follow Tim Lester wherever he goes for this contract.

I would too, but the authorities told me to stop stalking him....

Quote:I will support this team and continue to go to games and pay my dues. I will however ALSO continue to critique what I am seeing on the field with anyone who wants to listen... (which I thought was most people on this board.)

You should. Everyone should critique their HC/OC/DC/Players when a big mistake is made (happens), or repeated mistakes are made but not corrected (unfortunatley will happen). It's part of the game. We're not doing a Sunday morning Bronco show with TL. That said, both critiquing & praising can be over-done.

Quote:Yes there are individuals here who want to live in the PJ bubble of Cotton Bowl Bliss and thats just fine... but thats not reality! Reality is that we NEED to move on... for your own sanity alone.

No! We win the MAC and go to the Cotton Bowl -- we must win the MAC (virtually) every year!! 03-wink

Quote:#4. PJ isn't coming back but that doesn't mean that what he showed us shouldn't be regarded as the bar we continue to shoot for....

Don't ruin my dreams! He's Our (former) Dear Leader! Glory be to Him and everything he represents! Hail. 03-wink

Quote:PJ could come back, but only if and when the AD job opens up...

No Heather, I think it's that PJ Fleck comes back to become a Hybrid with Tim Lester ..... to form: TJ Flester!
