More conversation here than any other topic/thread on this forum. Welcome to the current state of WMU football and WMU athletics in general.

Our biggest threads have always been the pissing matches. Wasn't the fire fleck thread one of our largest ever? That thread for the most part wasn't about football.

It's further magnified in football because you play so few games and if goes wrong it goes wrong in agonizing slow motion.

As for *real* toxic fandom there's no comparison to the youth of a fired coach. The higher the profile the position the higher the odds of it being nasty. The truly unhinged in need of clinical help that I've come across here have about a coin flip chance of being a coach's son in my experience. It doesn't excuse their behavior, but I also understand I'm seeing a creature created by the dark side of the sport I love. You might be a little off kilter too if you grew up in a spot where everybody knew your dad and in a span of a few years everybody knew AND HATED your dad and some had zero issues parading that around publicly in front of you. When you stare into the abyss the abyss stares into you.

DesertBronco strikes me as somebody probably to pity more than anything else. If he wants to put great effort into being an ******* on this site ... just imagine what isn't in his life. Friends. Family. Joy. Self respect. While I haven't done a thorough look since last time, Rasser couldn't be 100% confirmed as DB but certainly had the stench about him. Due to various very long very boring technical reasons with how some cellular providers handle their mobile networks, it's impossible to selectively ban users on those networks based on IP. Rasser's latest efforts earned him a ban regardless (and probably remove any doubt remaining that it was DB).

Spot on.

Quote:You have to clarify what you mean by DB - Dan Burgardt (ChipDip) or DesertBronco.

DesertBronco. If it was Chip -- Posing as DB due to the same initials -- that would be hilarious. But I dunno how Comcast's Internet connection is in the afterlife... but I would assume you'd have to pretend (wink wink) to be someone else, if doing so.

Quote:I think his big beef with Fleck is that he got pulled into a legal situation with him, along with ChipDip.

DB hated Fleck prior. The legal situation was complete BS, so yeah, as said prior, that only escalated the disdain toward the 'new kid on the block' taking over Cubit's position. I sent my last text on my phone and it misspelled a word. I heard before he's had some loose connections to Cubit people. So I could see that + being skeptical & not a fan of a new kid on the block causing one to be an anti-fan of Fleck. Combine that with DB's expressive persona -- and well, yeah.

It wasn’t Fleck that initiated the legal proceedings... it was the Ziegler’s...

And for good measure... those guys were running mouths about speculation that started to gain momentum... about a respected family that has donated tons of money to our program...

This is accurate. Though they came off from my vantage point as having a somewhat hapless if persistent lawyer and as being quite probably very very petty.

I wasn't saying it was Fleck Himself. And the lawsuit was alleging someone folks here were referring to someone at Ziegler who was Not At All who (nor would one would assume) PJ was interacting with. Anyway, yes, Ziegler Ford -- they were all over the Issue, yes -- because the person nobody mentioned here in the forums (but in the lawsuit alleging so) VS others, well, I won't go there.

There was a headline on Yahoo right after this. I clicked -- went to No Link. Oh, it was a big deal to squash it. And very interesting, but I won't go about the details which are hilarious.

In the end, I can understand PJ not wanting to settle down here, even though he had VERY GOOD reason to -- which I'm sure he reasonably considered with his new wife (from Kzoo/Zieg) -- for that big $$$. But I can totally understand going to the B1G. To join a team who had 9W (not 3-5W) in the weaker division -- with a real opportunity to go to the B1G Championship game. I honestly think he can when Wisconsin goes in reloading mode (like last year) and Nebraska nor Iowa's on fire. But shoot, in the end, I think it's more a place to Settle Down. Not to "move up" to Ohio State/MSU/Stanford/Texas/etc. Unless of course you Establish the team Near Top for many years, sure.
