How bad are the Huskers? They are coming off a 4-8 season yet many pundits had them in their top 25 with many predicting them to win the B1G West. They do not seem any better than last years squad.

I think Dan Orlovski took too many shots to the head as Leo’s QB:

Thought they were being overrated second I saw that. Figured 6-6 at best for them.

Frost & Brohm all hype this season (and all this past off-season)

Nebraska looked to be the trendy pick given that the West looked to be wide open this year. I thought Iowa was the team to beat on that side but the Badgers are clearly the best. But people who follow B1G football didn’t fall for the Nebraska smoke.
Many who do follow Big 10 football were picking Nebraska. It was really bizarre.

My goodness.

Dantontio set the bar high and expectations as well. Production on the field is not living up to the lofty goals he established and previously achieved. Victim of his own success.

We see this on our own forum. One coach achieved greatness for the program for one season. An anomaly that many now believe should be our new norm.

RE: PJ's Goofers on their way to 5-0.
My memory isn't that good but some have posted that it is not enough to compete for MACC, that we need to compete to ranked and shoot for major bowls. At least that is how I've read those posts since I've been here. I have to go back to read who I'm responding to. The only two I remember are the one on my ignore list and Brovo because we used to have a friendly clash occasionally.

Yeah...nope. Nobody ever said the new expectation should be major bowl games every year.

The common thought among those who aren't happy with the current state of affairs is that we should be competing for MAC West titles and MAC Championships. An occasional bowl win is not out of bounds for discussion, either.

None of these raised expectations are extreme. The very concept that this constitutes a "raised" expectation indicates just how much mediocrity our fan base is willing to put up with.

Seriously, I'm not asking us to be a CFP contender for god's sake. I'm simply asking for this administration to start having higher expectations, crack the T25 every now and then, 8+ wins every year should be the norm, not sitting in at 6-6 and praying that we gut lucky enough to compete for a MAC west title. Toledo fans expect the same, why are we below them?

True. I don't think there's anything Wrong with such a mindset -- IF we were to get to a point where NIU was getting into during their several glory years (which have now dissipated), where 2 losses in the MAC going 6-2 was a disappointment. We need to get into a chain-reaction of year-to-year power-MAC-team-to-beat before thoughts of making NY bowls every year come to mind. I don't care what our budget is. I don't base it on that. High budgets aren't going to get P5 teams into NY bowls -- it'll give higher bandwidth to more feasibly be Able to get to the point of potentially going to one.

If we're 7-5 one regular season, turning to 7-6 post-bowl -- even the next year having some improvements coming our way, I'm not going to assume we should battling for 10-13W the next year. Especially when there's still improvements that need to be made and won't be done during Spring ball.

Essentially, I just want to see us improve as the year goes on, making each year at least a bit better -- and not have any big drop-offs.

I think the unreasonable expectation on here is 'any year we don't compete for a BCS Bowl is a failure. Any year we're not ranked it's a failure. Any year we lost to Michigan or Michigan St by more then a touchdown, it's a failure.' I sometimes see attitudes like this on here.

Exactly. There is nothing wrong with having reasonable expectations for our team. We should all want these things and, to a certain extent, expect them.

Completely disagree with you. People on here get pissed when we come out sleeping in big games for an entire quarter or half and never really compete until 30 minutes into a game..ultimately losing by 2+ touchdowns. Not being competitive in games where we should be..

Again, not sure where you are seeing this. I expect the team to compete for MAC championships. We are in it this year, but past years with this staff have been disappointing and have left much to be desired.

PJ's Goofers route Maryland 52-10

Showdown vs Penn State next week, both undefeated, that could be a prime time game, they could possibly get gameday to their campus.

They have a very good chance of going undefeated and going to the B1G Championship game to lose 59-0 to Ohio State.

They’ll lose three of the last four. No Ohio State, MSU or Michigan on the schedule is a real godsend for PJ.

Idk about that. They have PSU/Wisconsin at home. 2-2 at the worst in my opinion. I think 3-1 still gets them to the B1G Championship game.

77th most difficult schedule in the country. Dead last in the Big 10. Weaker than schools like Florida Atlantic and LA Lafayette!

Lol. The work dude's on this board to discredit Minny. Keep us posted on that SOS bros. Maybe we can back into a MACC game.

Year before Fleck was hired Minny won nine games including bowl. Taken him three years to get back to that level.

Got to give them credit, they've beaten who was on the schedule.

But only two with winning records are South Dakota State and Georgia Southern.

Anyone who wants to downplay what Fleck is doing in Minnesota must have Fleck Deranged Syndrome.
He has them 8-0 for the first time in nearly 80 years and they are getting better as the season goes on.

ESPN's FPI projects Minny losing three of last four.
