Navy and Air Force will meet on the gridiron for the 52nd time when they square off on national television on Saturday afternoon at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium (34,000) in the first leg in the battle for the Commander-In-Chief’s Trophy. Kickoff is set for 3:30 pm. Saturday’s game is presented by USAA and supported by Under Armour and UnitedHealth Group.
Saturday's game has been announced as sold out.
Air Force leads the all-time series, 30-21, however Navy owns an 11-8 advantage in games played in Annapolis. Air Force won last year in Colorado Springs, 35-7, while Navy won in 2017 in Annapolis,
48-45, in a thriller. Navy is 11-6 against Air Force in the Johnson-Niumatalolo era.
Saturday’s game will pit the nation’s top two rushing offenses (Navy is No. 1 at 344.7 yds/gm, Air Force is No. 2 at 332.8 yds/gm) against two of the top defenses against the run (Navy is No. 14 giving up 84.3 yds/gm on the ground, Air Force is No. 18 at 93.3 yds/gm). Air Force leads the country in third down conversions (.600), while the Navy defense is 10th in third down conversion defense (.257). Both teams can also hurt you with the pass, as Air Force is No. 2 in the country in yards per completion (20.95), while Navy is No. 3 (18.8).
