Losing ESPN is the most satisfying thing about our AAC departure. All they have ever done is bash UConn. I really wish that the State of Connecticut would end whatever tax breaks they are giving EPSN. Their campus is so huge that they aren't moving elsewhere. And if they do, good riddance.
I wish Mike Aresco had shopped the TV contract versus sticking with ESPN out of convenience. F ESPN.
Lol without ESPN UConn is URI. You should be on your knees thanking them for everything they've gifted you.

Quote:Even their Boneyard football fanatics are ready to dissolve the program. It is over when the Rent lease is over. I think that coincides with the end of Randy's contract.
There is no point in FCS. Loses more money than FBS. They have no on-campus stadium for FCS.
They could they retro fit the soccer stadium. It looks like it holds 5K which would be a good start. I am sure the BE would let them join. https://uconnhuskies.com/facilities/?id=5

RE: ESPN: How is UConn Doing?
I honestly don't know much about the UConn situation so I did a bit of googling. Looks like this stadium was built specifically for them, and it's only about 6-8 miles from campus. Putting it near Hartford would have hopefully got them a bit more support from everyone who lives in the city. You can bus the students over, looks easy from a traffic perspective.
I wonder why it didn't work out... other than losing all the time. My school knows all about how losing will kill your fanbase.

It is unbelievable how bad UConn FBall has become. They are three plus TD dogs to any team with a pulse. Honestly, they must be seriously considering FCS. Their athletic admin has cost them millions, maybe even a billion.

I know more about Villanova than most on this board. 4k for football is generous; probably tickets sold like most schools report for attendance.
With that said, Villanova still has (shelved) plans to one day move to FBS football and join the ACC. Laugh all you want, but I know both current and past school administrators and regularly have drinks with the son of a very (in)famous Villanova icon. The truth is, if Temple were to leave the Linc and move into an on-campus stadium, Villanova will pick up that lease and attempt to play an independent FBS schedule knowing very well that they can roll back into an FCS role in the blink of an eye. In addition, now that UConn is folding up their high level football dreams, Villanova and UConn would certainly enter into a mutual annual game agreement.
Villanova knows that their academic relevance, from a marketing perspective, hinges on athletic success. They also know that they are the flag bearer of the Big East. Their sights are set much higher.

Nova to the AAC FB only to replace UConn. That would be great. Keep that spot open. Temple get your stadium built. The HOLY TRINITY TROPHY is on the way with ND, BC, and Nova triangulating a series every year like the Commander and Chief Trophy between Army, Navy , and Air Force. " Gitter" done. Would love to see Nova in the AAC as a FB only.

100% disagree. Why should nova be rewarded with an American invite? The old Big East did a study for promoting nova to FBS which so disgusted Pitt and Syracuse (among others) that it led directly to the implosion of that conference. Nova was also instrumental in getting Temple booted from the BE. Now you want to play nice?
As for nova to the Linc; they bring maybe 1,000 when it’s Temple v nova but they’re going to pick up the lease if we leave? What a joke.

RE: ESPN: How is UConn Doing?
I wonder if anyone has thought about the Uconn move as it relates to long term positioning. By getting into the Big east again, they can rebuild their BBall to being even stronger, and then create a weak football schedule which will allow them to get 6 wins a year.
Then in 2025, if the ACC does expand it makes it more likely that they would look to Uconn and I believe its easier to leave the Big east then it is the AAC.
I am just wondering if this is not only a short term positioning for possibilities in the future.

That’s the delusional scenario that some UConn fans have thrown out there. Why is it delusional? The ACC will never take UConn because Husky football is terrible and Clemson and Florida State won’t allow that.
