What a exciting two game series this

in the future.

Seems like a good call to make. If they are staying independent they need games. Maybe a November date to get out of playing on Tuesday

Absolutely! Let’s do this again with the BYU Cougars.
I was disappointed not to be able to attend yesterday, but was happy to hear it on BYU radio on Sirius XM. They did a nice job with the broadcast. Very professional pair. We attended the game in Provo, and had a great experience. Very friendly fan base.
Toledo really needs to focus on next week, now. Can’t let this one get away.

Agreed, a great series indeed! Very evenly matched and fun to watch on both sides. I had to watch part 1 on TV, but the family was able to tailgate and see part 2 "live" yesterday. Another good one in the history books for the Rockets. I hope BYU feels the same.

Some of their fans are, of course, screaming for their HC’s head, saying a BYU should NEVER lose to a MAC team. Briggs, I think it was, made a good observation that this team is living off a brand and the reality is they get the same level of player we get. The results of these two games bears that out.

Their fans should realize that brand beat two teams with some of the best recruiting in the country. They saw the game last year. They may be saying "Toledo" but I think they're just knotted about Utah.
They're even younger than us. I would imagine their recruits are a bit above ON BALANCE but they're probably limited by the nature of the school. Their game plan yesterday was solid. Their play was solid. No one would have expected the missed FGs.

So Briggs basically said we beat an underachieving archaic team living off history and we're going to get on board with that?
No.
I'll repeat: we beat a team that this season beat two of the best recruiting schools IN THE NATION. They would have given Wash a tougher game if not for the three games prior. This is a very good (now injury depleted) BYU team.

24/7 has us ranked 71 in the 2020 recruiting class. They have BYU at 75

I think there’s media kool-ade mixed in with things like that all the time…I mean, whenever UT’s on national TV on the verge of one of its “biggest wins in program history”, do they ever compare it to, like the game when NIU came in ranked in the T25 and we smashed them 66-30? Or when we spot Marshall and their NFL roster 23 points only to come back and beat them to win a championship? No, they talk about our wins over teams like Iowa State or Kansas even though those teams were worse than even the average Mac team back then. Has to happen in their neck of the woods too…I mean, is it any question that we’re a better team than Tennessee right now? It seemed like the various Utah media sources understood that, it sounded like Coach Sitake understood that, but for those casual fans who don’t follow any of that, and for crummy regional announcers assigned to cover a Mac vs. Sec cash-grab game on TV, it’s easy to get caught up in the size and prestige of the program instead of the quality.

I think it was NIU that took us down 66-30 when Beckman was HC....but I get it!!!
By the way UT owes Tim Beckmann some gratitude for turning this program around as it was almost moribund. I feel for Mr Beckman as he was a very easy individual to talk with and was very down to earth. Anyway -that’s a side issue.

It's not always the team. Sometimes it's the individuals that those teams have on roster. Dangerous is dangerous. That's certainly one reason those big P5s get the attention, regardless they're actually better.
It's only in hindsight that anyone could make a good case for how truly high level the talent on the previous three years' squads. Similarly many mid-majors and that's because they now have the evidence sitting on NFL rosters. I think its more the ratings services and the magazines not giving mid-majors their due?
As for announcers, maybe I'm hearing different than you but for the most part, I think THEY are the ones who give mid-major's talent their due. Dustin Fox does, for sure. He's an excellent student.
