Defensive staff Coach Trott and Coach Hansen are some old time veterans. Like the 5 game progression of the defense in their new scheme. Six wins will be tough to get to this year, but program is getting better.

Yeah, it is. There was talk about wanting to put it next to the river at one point, but I think because we basically tore the old one down and built a brand new one all in one off season it was easier to keep it there.

I was told once they did soil samples it was deemed way too expensive to put by the water. It would have been an amazing location and allowed them to take their time and not rush it done in 9 months. That's why we have so many lingering issues that'll probably take all season to work out.

Agreed. Between him and the new strength coach it's been a big turn around.

Now we need to see if Wilder has the gumption to let his boy Scott go. He's been with him since Maine and he's OL and OC and that's our weakest area by a giant margin and hasn't show any improvement since we went FBS. When every fan knows what the play will be the other teams know too.

I really like the culture Wilder developed. He is a great statesman and politician and exactly what we needed to start a program from scratch and develop a winning culture...but.... here we are.

Had an awesome time at ODU this weekend. As others have said before, it's an ugly baby, but it's our baby. The Monarchs made a game of it toward the end, turning into a great finish.

Your new stadium is awesome. Really like the video boards, light effects, and that you guys have a DJ. Makes for a fun experience in one of the nicer small stadiums I've seen.

Tailgate was a lot of fun. Tons of pirate fans made the trip up, but ODU is generating quite the fan turnout for their home games. Everyone was really courteous, and a good time was had by all.

I'm still pretty shocked that we won the game.

Holton Ahlers got KILLED all game long. David Blackwell loves to blitz, and we knew that going in... didn't matter. Ahlers took an absolute beating.

The blocked punt for a TD is something we haven't seen at ECU in a long, long time. the last one I can remember was 2008 against Virginia Tech.

I didn't think we'd win honestly because I just thought we were too far behind in the build right now. I'm also not surprised we did win. We've had absolutely abysmal coaching but any time you're going up against an FCS team or lower level FBS the talent and depth is an issue for the opponent when you've actually got a competent staff.

You can go back to 2015 and they haven't had a recruiting class ranked above 110th. Not that we've done a bang up job compared to other conf mates but when you compare it to them, the difference in a 120th class compared to a 79th ranked class can be pretty substantial, especially with a good coaching staff.

I would be somewhat concerned if I were them with their decline under Wilder the further along he coaches while in a terrible CUSA. The amount of JUCO's he just took it going to set them back even further.
