Sagarin rankings. UT #57 BYU #78 UT rating 71.54 plus 2.46 for home field advantage = 74.00. BYU rating 66.90. 74.00 - 66.90 = 7.1. UT should be favored by 7.1. Not to worry UT will win.

RE: Massey Composite Computer Rankings
Rockets up to 64 this week (range of 49 to 89)

Kentucky in a free-fall without their starting QB, are now at 58
BYU drops to 77
Upcoming opponent WMU is at 74
Colorado St at 119
Akron, at 130, is now the worst ranked team in FBS after losing to previous worst ranked team UMass

And the MAC as a whole has pulled out of the basement in the conference rankings, squeaking ahead of CUSA (remember when people thought it would be a huge step up to join that conference?)

I believe back when people were talking about CUSA they had Cincinnati, Louisville, Memphis, Houston......

Wait until BG plays Akron. BG will be saying "hold my beer." You wanna see a trainwreck, just wait.

the implosion of the BG and Akron programs has hurt the MAC. i don't root for BG to be great and sometimes laugh at them in loses but I want them to be generally good and a worthy rival. Akron has found a way to simultaneously turn the league's newest nicest football stadium and MAC best men's basketball program into a hot mess.

Always remember, we are one Jinks or Gene Cross hire from joining them.

Rockets up to 58 this week (range 38 to 82) and are ranked higher than any team on the schedule (completed or not). Strength of remaining schedule gives little chance to improve much:

BGSU 125
BSU 113
EMU 99
KSU 94
NIU 118
UB 109
CMU 100

Bizarre to see Kent as the highest ranked team remaining on the schedule.

11-1 looking more and more likely every day

And I'm not sure we'd be ranked even at that with this schedule.

I was just speaking regular season...if Toledo is 12-1, it'll be a hard pill to swallow ending up in the Bahamas against Marshall or something.

This is the worst that I've ever seen this conference, even Ohio looks bad this year. There is hope for some places. BGSU is selling starting time to recruits, so there should be a increase in talent. Jim McElwain is at CMU. I would expect a drastic improvement there. I can't imagine NIU being down forever. But overall there are a lot of programs with nothing going on and no hope for the future. I'm not sure if it's because of a lack of money to draw a decent coach, a lack of interest to improve the programs, coaches not wanting to bother with the MAC, or a combination of those. Miami has done nada since Ben Rothlesberger. To be fair, they did hire some guy who had their hopes up, but then he left for Pitt or something weird like that and got fired. But that program is dead. Kent State had a flash a few years ago, but that program is dead. Ball State appears to have given up since the departure of Brady Hoke. Poor Akron built a nice stadium and tried to do something with Bowden, but that program is dead. Eastern improved, but appears to have hit their ceiling of potential. It's a wasteland of teams that make you wonder why they bother with football at this level. The problem is that if you are WMU, NIU, or Toledo; where do you go? You're a victim of geography. At least Toledo has talent and a tradition. It makes for an easier draw to coaches. I'm sure they figure it will be easy to win a few games at Toledo and try to move on. That's probably the only thing saving us.
