American Conference POW
http://theamerican.org/news/2019/9/9/smu...orees.aspx

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly football honors for the second week of the 2019 college football season.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Xavier Jones • SMU • Sr. • RB • Spring, Texas
Jones rushed for 127 yards and three touchdowns on 16 carries to lead SMU to a 49-27 win against North Texas, improving the Mustangs to 2-0. Jones scored on touchdown runs of 24, 10 and 51 yards, turning in his second straight game with three TDs.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Patrick Nelson • SMU • Sr. • S • Chicago, Ill.
Nelson had seven tackles to go with 2.0 sacks and an interception in SMU’s 49-27 win against North Texas. Facing an offense that had put up 51 points and 575 yards a week earlier, Nelson and the Mustangs limited the Mean Green to 396 yards and 27 points.

For the record, Nelson was a transfer from Illinois, I believe.

So nice not being worried about the Bottom 10 list reveal each week (knock on wood)

Seriously, if Tulane, Tulsa and SMU can keep upping our games this conference will be fine.

Good to see SMU display convincing solid football... Now if SMU can manage to sustain it our games between us can finally mean something.

I'm sure usf had similar thoughts about UCF when we joined the BE/AAC in 2013.

*snort*

Roger.

Because it didn’t mean anything last year when we beat you and cost you a division title.

SMU V Temple, Tulsa and Tulane ought to be really good. And the road game at USF following TCU will be a good test as well. It's Sonny in Dallas.
