Thought I would bump this up and let some of the newer posters post what they think on this as we near our new conference!
I still think TCU will be our main rivals but Tulsa this past weekend I dunno. Just felt they'll be our biggest rivals in NCUSA.
We got UAB, Marshall, ECU, Tulsa, Houston, Tulane, Rice, and UTEP on the schedule from the CUSA next year on the schedule.
Like I said I think Tulsa is the biggest rival at the moment out of these 8 teams. Thoughts??

I'm still game to make it a rivalry between the two schools. I think we have a little something going in hoops. Football... not just yet. I think both programs will have to elevate themselves before the football series heats up.
Oh yeah, and it would be helpful if we'd beat you guys a little more often. Until then, we're just your homecoming opponent every other year.

Cane Gang - I feel your pain on the football game. Pony fans share those same sentiments for hoops where SMU had been on the losing side waaaaay to much over the brief history of the WAC (except for last year). Personally, I'd like to see Tulsa get back to their winning ways in the near future. Tulsa has too good of a basketball history dating back to the late 70's/80's. It was a shame seeing you'll struggle last year.
The Ponies should be improved on the hardwood with what will basically be the same team from last year except for the addition of an athletic 6-8' JUCO transfer to help us in the post. Our biggest hope is that Coach Tubbs will bring an increased sense of 'urgency' to our players that we've lacked over the years under Dement.

You guys have always had basketball talent. No reason for the Ponies to not be a consistent 18-20 win team (and better some years). Maybe it was the coach, but I've always thought y'all underachieved a bit.
Speaking of hoops... what's all that construction just south of Moody?

CG - Not sure about the construction south of Moody as I'm not in Dallas, but I'd guess it's for the expansion of the Dedman Center for Lifetime sports (Student Rec Center) & maybe a practice facility for the Basketball teams. Someone else please correct me if I'm wrong.

The construction is related to the new Student Recreation Center. First class facility to be completed in 2005

Austin Pony- please feel free to develop as many rivalries as possible with the West, because since the East has so much hatred, we can't muster the emotion to hate anybody out there too! Go Blazers and welcome to CUSA...

Blaze - I'm sure the rivalries will develop naturally as we play more and more games. SMU has a history with every team in the West, however, doesn't have history with any team from the East. It will be a bit harder to develop the rivalries with Eastern teams as we will only play those teams on 2 year cycles. I'm guess our best rivalries from the east could come from Memphis, UAB & S. Miss as they are geographically closest to Dallas.
Go Ponies!

Still a looong drive from Dallas to Birmingham. UAB is up and coming, still a very young program in football. We'll still have Darryl Hackney at QB next year, so we'll have a good start. We'll look forward to seeing you guys. On the hardwood, you won't enjoy playing us much as long as we are able to keep Coach Mike Anderson. One of the big dollar schools will scoop him up all too soon, but 'till then, we're gonna be tough.
Welcome to the conference guys. I'm an old SWC guy from U of H, and know your program from ages past. It'll be fun.

UAB, Memphis, and SMU will probably have a pretty good soccer rivalry going on
