RE: ***Official UC Bearcats vs. UCLA Cronins Gamethread***
Lines are hovering around -2.5 and -3. I know UCLA is supposed to be improved but this seems a bit surprising considering UC is already pretty good, has a solid home field advantage, and the travel factor for UCLA.
UCLA hasn't won a game west of Utah since the 2014 season.

Correct me if I'm wrong because I'm not a big gambler, but aren't the betting lines there pretty much to manipulate the bets and not necessarily to predict the winner???
If everyone started betting on one team, that line would move pretty quick to get people betting on the other team, right?
Hence, I just say that according to MY line UCLA sucks and UC is going to win.

Pretty much. The books want equal wagering on both sides.

Correct. On average they make the most money when the betting is equal. The spread just manipulates the betting direction. For example, Oddsshark has the spread at 2.5, but their score prediction is UCLA 13.8 - UC 33.2 https://www.oddsshark.com/ncaaf/ucla-cin...19-1113832
If they're only giving 2.5, there must have been heavy betting on UCLA with a score prediction like that.
