Military bowl tie-ins
Can Army replace the AAC in the military bowl? SI has them doing that with their projections.

No... Unless The AMERICAN doesn't have enough bowl eligible teams.

And as one of our highest paying bowls, with a P6 matchup that actually does come through with a team...roughly the last bowl to which the AAC would not send a team if we are short bowl teams.

I'd also add that we are again the primary annual tie to that bowl in the 2020-2025 period as well. Its actually the ONLY bowl the next bowl cycle that we are absolutely guaranteed a slot in every single year.

I thought Fenway also AAC primary, every single year.

My bad. You are correct. I was looking at the current year list and forgot about Fenway.

No. They did zero research in their projections. AAC will fill this bowl prior to filling their lower tier bowls. Last year, AAC sent a 10 win Cincinnati to face VT here.

RE: Military bowl tie-ins
Pervious contracted participants were Army, Navy, and CUSA.

Current contracted participants are the ACC and the AAC.

The two years Army was contracted they were not bowl eligible. In 2009 the MAC played the P-12 and in 2012 the MAC played the WAC.

Air Force represented the MWC in a 42-41 loss to Toledo (the MAC) in 2011.

Navy has played in this bowl 3 times. Twice as the AAC representative and once on their own as an independent in the inaugural bowl then known as the EagleBank Bowl. 04-cheers

Like the Poinsettia Bowl, this bowl was established envisioning independent Navy as a pillar as recurring participant.

Navy was contracted as an independent for the Military Bowl in 2015, and as part of Navy's entrance to the Big East, that was transitioned to the AAC contract, with the proviso that the Military Bowl would get Navy as AAC participant if bowl eligible. (Same for Armed Forces Bowl in 2016 - initially contracted as independent, transitioned to AAC lineup with preferential pick for Navy).

In addition to the facts, take into consideration that Army does not want to play a bowl game in Navy's home stadium.

The irony would be delicious.

What IS Army West Point's contracted bowl tie-in for the 2019 football season?

Don't have one. Frisco has an at-large slot, right? But that's too close to Army-Navy to be palatable.
