I just checked quick lanes bowl is now the Big10 11th game (used to be the 8th)...the big 10 hasn't had 11 bowl teams in a long time

Note 11 doesn't account for the playoff spots

This indicates quick lane is a primary bowl for the MAC right on their own website. So they have 4 primary bowls and then get slotted in 2 from the ESPN event pool.

MAC Bowls

my point was that they put it in the "additional bowls" sections...and makes zero notes about it in the 4 paragraph descriptions of the bowl, about it being versu the big 10

this is a bowl game with a p5, their 1st ever, their only bowl game with a p5....in the is very forum people were talking about how huge it would be for the AAC to land that bowl
and aresco was vigirously attacked for not taking the bowl by many posters

the lack of emphasis about that bowl in the mac annoucnement made me question if it still would have the same importance as before...so i searched

i noticed the bowl went from the big 10's 8th bowl.. to their 11th bowl (not including playoffs/atlarges...the big 10 has never had more than 10 bowl teams ever..and made made many playoffs and atlarges the last 6 year (that doesnt count as part of the 11)

a big 10 will almost never be in that bowl

No one predicted that in this thread. OTOH CUSA the conference which currently has ties to two of those bowls may continue to have access to them, or they may not. We won’t know until they announce their bowl lineup.

Some on the conf realignment board did as a dig to AAC.

It really is dependent on the wording. I was one concerned we may not have the ties as some have suggested. I am still reluctant to move my opinion on the lineup but will say it looks more positive to me with the added info. My biggest issue is lwe might have lost a permanent tie to the Gasparilla and a possible loss of a guarenteed Birmingham bowl. Neither have been secured yet but I feel better about how things are looking.

RE: AAC Bowls are annoucned on our Conference PAge
McMurphy leaking the MW Bowl lineup---If this is accurate, the MW/Pac12/BYU Indy Bowl rumor is dead. Looks like the MW just contributes one team to the flexible portion of the ESPN bowl pool. Looking at this---Im thinking the Sunbelt and CUSA will both end up with full 6 year ties to the Indy Bowl and the Pac12 #8 is going to be end up being part of the ESPN bowl pool.

Brett McMurphy
@Brett_McMurphy
Sources told
@Stadium
, Mountain West's new bowl lineup in 2020-25 will be:

Los Angeles
Famous Idaho Potato
Hawaii
New Mexico
Arizona

Plus one bowl from among the 16 ESPN-owned bowls. Mountain West will have 6 guaranteed bowls, plus back-up deal w/ Cheez-It, sources said

If true, good to see that the PAC can't usurp a G5 spot vs. P5 (when available) in ESPN bowls.

The way he list the PAC Bowls with Indy #8, seems like the MW gets to play against the #4 team.

While nothing presented overtly says that is not the case---I also wouldnt read too much into the order those are presented as the Sun Bowl is unlikely to be the next to last bowl in their line up.

No it doesn't. There's no way an 84 year old bowl vs. a power conference opponent is last while a brand new game vs. a non power opponent is 4th. It's just a list of bowls. Nothing more.

So---are they part of the ESPN pool? Seems like ESPN gets mentioned a lot in the article---but the article never mentions the ESPN Bowl Pool.

My take is that this bowl is independent of the ESPN Bowl Pool but that ESPN Conference Pool members will have a shot at playing in it against a P-12 team, Army, BYU, or another ESPN Bowl Pool member if the PAC-12, BYU, or Army are not available. ESPN has the Independence Bowl nibbling at the bait but it can't hook this bowl yet - at least not in the new 2020-2025 bowl cycle. As the article states there are still a few glitches to work out yet but they at least partially hooked the PAC-12 as a P5 Conference to help stabilize this bowl through the next bowl cycle. 04-cheers

Seems like they are working with ESPN Bowl pool, but wisely are not selling it to them because ESPN would move it to a different city.

RE: AAC Bowls are announced on our Conference Page
"Shreveport’s postseason game will employ a rotation that includes the Pac-12.

To complete the rotation, the I-Bowl is immersed in discussions with BYU, Army and Group of Five conferences. Previous I-Bowl partners, Conference USA and the American Athletic Conference, would be a natural fit."

The way that I interpret this is that there will be a rotation between BYU, ARMY and the AAAC, vs the PAC-12... And should the PAC-12 not be Able to fulfill it'S obligation the match up will be between 2 of the 3 (BYU, ARMY And the AAC).

The thing is—the AAC is “full” unless the Indy is part of the ESPN Bowl pool our picks are committed to.
