Am I missing something? Did UConn just make a multi million (some could argue billion) dollar choice with an outgoing president and interim board director? That cannot be possible this is a flagship university with a massive budget.

Yup, perfect time for old money donors to strong arm the school. That's all this is. It's there program but like many things they are uninterested in putting it in position to succeed for the long term. To hell with everyone else, they're dying soon and UConn is a big east school. Most of them are probably to uninformed to know the Big East has DePaul and Marquette still in it much less new add ons like Butler, Creighton, or Xavier. Gonna need a big bag of popcorn when they get their season tickets and realize there it.
