RE: Fleck called out for his disloyalty
Not to pick nits but article is perhaps more about hypocrisy than disloyalty.

Or equal parts of both.

RE: Fleck called out for his disloyalty
It's about how he's hypocritical because he's disloyal too. Definitely calling him out on it.

Also, notice how Fleck seems annoyed at players transferring. That is, Minnesota, a Big 10 school, has probably had some good players transfer out like Reed and Brown, and they ain't liking it either.

RE: Fleck called out for his disloyalty
Coaches are constantly talking out of their ass on this issue, Fleck included. They demand loyalty but will not hesitate to change jobs or cut a guy loose (or pressure them to transfer). Perhaps most nauseating is listening to guys like $9 million man Dabo preach on about amateurism.

They're all full of it.

Especially Fleck, why he’s getting called out

Not to mention his history of recruiting-offering kids who have already committed to other schools.

In Fleck’s defense, he said coommitted to “me,” not the school. So, technically not hypocrisy if...

Wasn't just referring to his exit from us.

He's still doing it at Minisoda - but he's not the only college coach to do so.

Used to be a "gentleman's agreement" among Big Ten coaches that they would no longer recruit kids who committed to other conference schools.

That was before Urban Meyer joined the league.

RE: Fleck called out for his disloyalty
We live in a time when the idea of truthfulness has become quite vague.
Likewise hypocracy or dishonesty. We value getting what we want highly, and how you get that done is just a tool. Those tools no longer are judged by some swiftly disappearing moral code. If bending the facts a bit gets that done, whatever, people remember the outcome, not the method.

So rather than find fault, we should give extra credit for being a trend setter in that regard, right?

I’m not disagreeing, I just thought his words about “committed to me” rather “committed to Minnesota” is a bit of a tell. In his mind, he probably doesn’t think it’s hypocrisy because whatever it is he is doing is the center of the universe. So many people today are incapable of seeing beyond the event horizon of themselves.

It's also a thinly veiled way to shield himself from criticism for having reached out to WMU players.

RE: Fleck called out for his disloyalty
To be fair, I wouldn't count a G5 coach going to a well financed P5 on the same level as a player recruit being all-in-or-nothing.

Now, if he was telling his players you Don't Leave WMU to go into the portal to go to some P5 school -- then he leaves to go to one himself -- yeah, that's being a hypocrite.

Meh ... a coaching contract is not a coach’s commitment to stay at a school for the duration of the contract; it’s a compensation agreement. Weak analogy.

Neither is an LOI.

He’s all about his posturing. Too bad it won’t turn into “W’s” at Minny.
