RE: Jerry Wainwright joining Haith’s staff at Tulsa
Look. I understand the relationship UNCW and Wainwright have. Even if he was available, it doesn't seem logical from either coach's perspective.

Wainwright perspective: Had a great career at UNCW, went out on top. Why get on staff when the team is struggling and potentially taint that legacy?

McGrath: So far has not been successful, but is just now getting "his" players and looking to establish his team. If he brings on Wainwright, and all of a sudden he's successful, how many folks would taint his credit and say it was due to Wainwright?

There's not a right or wrong answer here really, as I and others here just want UNCW to win and be successful. However, we can't avoid those implications for such decisions on their account.

We'll never really know how available he was... He's joining a " longtime friend" in Frank Haith. CB and Wainwright don't have any history working together. It's hard for me to believe he would want to come out of retirement to work on a staff for a guy he has no prior relationship with at this stage in his career/life. I'm happy a good opportunity came Wainwright's way and it should probably just be left at that.

Sure...... i'd be more than willing for it to be left at that, IF(hopefully when) he shakes up his staff and brings in someone that knows how to teach D

I wouldn't bet on it, the staff looks to be set. I just don't think there was much interest from either side. Wainwright on McGrath's staff was always a pipe dream IMO.

Exactly. It was and remains nothing more than a hypothetical based in retro dreaming. Nothing about it says it would be a slam dunk success, and there's more logical reasoning against it than for it.

I would take ANY coach on this staff, ANY with a D background. And could it possibly be worse than damn near dead last?

Aren’t assistant coaches on yearly contracts? When is the start/end date for these?
