as expected the Baylor transfer is running away with the QB competition for Tulsa

seems to have chemistry with Tulsa's top receiver

Did anyone make it out to Tulsa's game? How was the turnout?

Here are the next few that I could find easily. Lots this weekend.

Friday, April 12th (for some reason)
Houston
Memphis

Saturday, April 13th
ECU
Cincinnati
SMU
Temple
Tulane
UCF
USF

Looks like Navy hasn't had one in a few years, and UConn cancelled starting this year because practice moved up a month and no one was showing up.

I was planning on going but Canes @ Washington is on at 3pm... I guess I can just listen to that game on the radio while I'm driving home.

I never know how much to take out of these games.... was the offense good or was the defense bad? But with the new staff I'm intrigued to see what we look like even if I won't know what it means, haha.

I went. 2 sources said about 600 in attendance. ( I thught last year had about 300).

Zach Smith (Baylor transfer) dropped 2 60+ yard bombs to Keylon Stokes for TD's. Only other offensive score was a 42 yd FG on a Seth Boomer drive. The defense had a pick-6, but I had to leave before that occurred. They started out 1's against 1's and changed it up as the day went along.

Smith looks to be the starting QB come fall with Boomer as a decent backup.

Not much running game as they were protecting RB1 and RB2 from injury.

Yeah, Navy hasnt had a Spring Game for a while - initially that was caution against injuries - maybe after the 2016 season got a late downturn when cumulative injuries added up.
Another recent year Coach Niumat didn't even use all 15 practices. I'm not going to check when because if it was any season after 2015, I'll have to call my anger management counselor.
Anyway, five more practices to go, which are all open to the public (They'll stop you filming at specific points, and there will be some cursory checks that youre not a spy) and I'm unlikely to see any of them.

Spoiler: They'll be handing it off some.

RE: *** General Spring Football/Spring Game Thread ***
So.
I am gradually coming back to optimism. More tempered than the optimism of previous years (even last year, sigh), but optimism nonetheless.

Coach Niumat cancelled the last couple practices.
- That cemented me not seeing any, but that was already at 99.9%. House 20 minutes from practice field good; work in DC bad.
- A lot of Navy fans who just sat through the (arguably) worst Navy Football season since Paul Johnson was head coach at Georgia Southern really figure the more practice the better...
- But maybe all the staff's spring goals got met?
- On balance, okay, stay uninjured, take on those Electrical Engineering finals, and have fun in Summer Training in the Fleet.

New defense under SC Newberry installed.
- That was obviously part of the "staff's goals met" part above.
- In January he had said he wanted 50-60% installed for spring.
- Capital beat writer seemed impressed

Navy message board groupthink was that we had gotten away from excellence in our offense to incorporate other stuff. Niumat and Jasper soundbites have (somewhat) convinced us.

Committed to Malcolm Perry at QB, in conjunction with the above point.
